New Literotica Story Page Feedback & Comments

I do like the new page, but the change did wipe out probably the best feature for mobile (at least iOS, across all the major browsers as far as I can tell)…I read stories in reader mode, and at the end of each page, I have to switch out of reader mode, scroll back to the bottom of the page (because toggling out of reader reloads the page at the top), select the next page (either by tapping on the page number, the page dropdown, or the next button, then re-enabling reader after the new page loads. That’s a fingerful to type, and even more annoying to have to do.

The old page automatically loaded the next page at the bottom of the current page you are reading, without any action on the reader’s part. Any chance you could enable that on the new page?

A few other thoughts on the read/bookmark indicator - it’s a challenge because when you’re choosing a story to read, the info you see depends on WHERE and HOW you look. If you’re on an Author’s Story Submission page, you see the vote score, category, and a summary, but not the bookmark indicator…so in that path there’s nowhere that indicates if you’ve interacted with the story before. If you do a story search, those results have a little more information, showing average rating, # words (I think, or it could be characters?), # who favorited story, #of comments, category, data, and a single bookmark indicator (another side note…some of us try to keep up with what we’re read using the bookmark tool, but it’s not really suited for that purpose…).

I guess my first rambling point is that it would be nice to see all the things, no matter how I’m searching for a story, and my second point is that it would be nice to have a way to mark a story as read and to see that, along with my rating (if applicable) at the top of page 1 of a story.

I've found something a little annoying in the new interface. Any new authors that publish their very first work (for example, author JoeyD9 has published a story called "The First Time" today. I accessed the story by looking at the "New Exhibitionist & Voyeur" link (https://www.literotica.com/s/the-first-time-184). When I try to access the author's page (the new link https://www.literotica.com/authors/JoeyD9), it doesn't show a link for "Work" available. The same doesn't happen for authors with other works published, as you can see with VanessaEvans (https://www.literotica.com/authors/VanessaEvans), who published a new work today, "My Perfect Woman".
By the way, aonther new author (shamescenes) also published their first story today (Maddie's Underwear Humiliation), but there is a "Works" link at their profile. Go figure!

A few days ago the fifth (and final) part of a story was published.

It shows in the Table of Contents but the header still refers to a 4-part Story Series and the number of stories is now one short compared to the "About" page.

When I submit a story, the pending tab has a clock that shows how long it has been pending. It resets itself every 24 hours, making it look like I just submitted. My story isn't getting published. I deleted and resubmitted and it did it again!

I notice that all my artwork has been redacted. Since that aspect of my posts is now nothing should I ask you formally to delete the whole section of my posts? Or is Literotica going to eliminate its whole art section for everyone, since almost all of us seem to have stuff you don't want any more? And can you please explain why visual arts are being targeted this way? Is it a legal issue? Is it A.I.? But A.I. can sample our words and prompt a lawsuit just as readily as stealing my art. And I've effectively made it public domain anyway. No logic here that I can see.

I know it's been brought up before, but I can't help repeating that there really needs to be a field that shows, "Last Read Date: 1/31/2025" or "Last Read Date: Never" or even better, an icon on the same row of icons underneath the author's name which currently displays Rating, Views, Favorites, Comments, Lists. Display a new icon after Lists that reads "Last Read Date" on a Mouse_Over and display the date. Of course, you'd have to decide what qualifies as a story being read. If I click on a story title because I want to see the Word Count before I make a decision whether to read it now or not, I don't want the website to tell me I've already read the story. My suggestions would be if a user posts a Star Rating or a Comment, then it should count as a "story read" for their account. If you have done neither, but you've read (loaded) half of the pages of a multi-page story, that should count as a "story read" for that user. Or something like that.

I can't stress how much I loathe the Comments section at the end of a story. In theory, I understand why Anonymous comment posts are allowed, but it steams me up to see how many chicken-shit assholes leave comments anonymously or how often an anonymous commenter will post something that is incorrect and there is no decent way to correct that person. A hypothetical example would be something like, "I was really enjoying this story, but you gave up on a rather important character and that really bothered me. Amy's mother played a prominent role for 9 pages and then we don't hear another word about Amy's mother even mentioned, except for the time Amy was crying and couldn't stop thinking about how their last conversation (Amy & mom) ended in a fight. Both characters are written as being extremely stubborn, but why didn't Amy ever try contacting her mother for the rest of the story? She was even crying about mom not being at her wedding for God's sake. That's not stubborn. That's asinine! From 5 to 2 Stars!" You stare at your monitor in complete disbelief because this commenter clearly missed the part where Amy's mother freakin' died, almost without warning, from an infection!! That's why. I've found myself reading when drowsy and having to go back 2 or 3 pages the following day because I couldn't remember anything from those pages and now I'm lost.

Frankly, I think a Comments system should be very similar to a forum's system like the one I'm using right now. In my above example, when I correct the reader, he isn't going to know. There is no reason for him to go back to that comment section to see what people wrote after him. I know I don't, but with a decent comments system I could get notifications about replies to my posts.

Don't delete it. Every time you do that, you go to the back of the queue. If it happens again, and the clock keeps resetting, I'd PM Laurel, point out what seems to be a glitch.
