Sex & Shenanigans

Ironically, this came up on one of my socials today!
Yes, that's a Russian nesting doll.

This is fake, but I am absolutely, positively, 100% NOT surprised! 😂😂
That has to be faked, the wood on those is so thin…….
The things I’ve seen people slide a fucking condom on for comfort and stick up their ass is asinine! I’d also like to point out that, if all the nesting dolls were in fact nested together, the flimsy nature of the wood could probably withstand the pressure and suction created in the rectum! Now, without the other dolls inside, I see your point! In that case, foreign body removal also becomes bowel perforation repair! 😂😂😂
I don’t know if I'm more impressed that the big one got in, of it it still had all the smaller ones inside
😂😂😂 facts!
I'm just imagining the doctors reaching in to pull one out, then going back in for more. And more. And more 🤣
Totally doable without going back! 😂😂

I'd forgotten how hard it is to write intimacy. No-holds-barred rough sex? No problemo. Cuddly romance? Auuuuugggghhh.
Many years ago, one of the Pixar writers tweeted a list of story writing tips. Among them were:
If someone bad does something bad, show us.
If someone good does something bad, tell us.
If someone good does something good, show us.

It’s so easy to overdose on sugar-sweet prose and declarations of love. Words of affirmation can be great, but don’t forget to use the other 4 love languages (quality time, physical touch, acts of service, receiving gifts) to demonstrate all the ways, both big and small, that they build their intimacy and love for each other 💗❤️

Not sure about the difference between show and tell in a purely written media, but definitely something to keep in mind! Though my good character will be doing a lot of bad things and I'm planning to show it all because rawr

Check, check, check, and uh does molten wax count as a gift?

Show vs tell in written media is like…the difference between saying “I love you” or “thanks for making me chicken soup when I was sick” vs showing the other character come home after a long day and put painstaking energy they barely have into making something that will make their partner feel loved and relieve some of their physical symptoms. It’s the difference between saying “drive safely” and getting up early to make sure there are snow chains on their tires. It’s taking the time to rub the knots out of their neck and draw them a warm bath after a stressful day. It’s hunting down a copy of that obscure book they loved when they were younger, and a million other things.

Avoid exposition where you can. Instead of the narrator telling you, "My dad was a bastard. He used to beat me with a belt," write it out in a scene. "We could smell the alcohol on his breath a minute after my dad walked in the door. He walked to the kitchen unsteadily. My sister and I exchanged a nervous glance. We tensed up as soon as we heard his voice. 'Hey! Who the fuck ate my roast beef?' he hollered. My sister looked terrified. I cleared my throat and said, 'It was me.' He already had his belt in his hand when he emerged from the kitchen. 'You little shit,' he muttered. I couldn't help but scream in agony when the edge of that stiff leather belt struck me on the cheek, just below my eye."

With intimacy, include all the little details that make the scene intimate when you picture it. A gentle kiss on the base of the neck; the warmth of that breath on your neck when your lover asks how your day was. That sort of thing.
