Loving Wives, Tough Group!

A woman writing in LW, especially one who has had some hotwife adventures in real life, is a lightning rod for hate among the most vocal faction over there. If you haven't already, you will get threats of sexual assault and violence. I always say a group of hyenas shouldn't decide what content goes in a category, that's for the site to decide, and to not let them drive readers off, but in your case, I'd suggest putting everything in fetish, better crowd, less hate, cold male insecurity, and more actual appreciation and being actual men over there.

As for what they want? Violent revenge which has nothing to do with erotica.

If this follows the usual pattern, a couple of posters are going to come here vehemently defending the category, they do it all the time despite this being another in an endless series of threads stating otherwise. You've seen the comments and read the room there, you know what the truth is. I think they do to, and just don't want to admit it and act like the good factions-and there are great readers and writers there-are the loudest voice there, and to quote a popular term these days, that is disinformation. Like in most instances these days, the hateful extreme have the loudest and strongest presence
Yikes, that sounds like a tough environment. It’s unfortunate that such a vocal minority can create such a hostile space, especially for women sharing their experiences. Moving to a more supportive category like fetish might be a good call, it sounds like the vibe there is more respectful and appreciative. At the end of the day, your safety and comfort matter most, so do what feels right for you. And hey, don’t let the loud, insecure voices drown out the fact that there are still good, respectful readers and writers out there. Keep writing for those who appreciate your work!

It's very strange. What belongs in LW according to the site description is "Married extra-marital fun: swinging, sharing & more."

The 'more' gives a wide scope, but the 'extra-martial fun' would seem to be compulsory. Maybe it's time the LW Fun Assessors went through to give a definitive ruling.

In Loving Wives I have been able to boast one rare achievement - my stories have made some readers laugh. Not all of them obviously and many of the readers found nothing funny about the stories or me for writing them and told me so in no uncertain terms, but all have gained at least one comment on each of them that they found parts of the story amusing.

I haven't been able to make the Incest Taboo readers laugh yet despite trying to do so for many years. Humour in IT is either met with indifference or antagonism, at least in my case.

Oh dear... I've just submitted my April Fool's entry into IT... If siblings can't have a bit of fun while doing the deed, what is the point?

I'm one of LC's "vehement defenders" of Loving Wives.

The site ratings show the choices as 1 to 5, with those as stars for emotional reactions from "Hated it" to "Loved it!" Some authors are the type who insists their story deserves only 5s! In my opinion, that's an immature reaction. It's like a five-year-old who runs home from school to show their mother their stick figure drawing, proudly pointing out the gold star the teacher put on it.

Posting stories to Literotica is like performing onstage in front of a live audience. If you want the audience to applaud and give you a standing ovation every time, then pick a small stage and screen the audience for family and friends who will pat you on the back regardless of how well you can perform.

But Loving Wives is like stepping onto the stage in a free, open public park. You'll get a much larger and diverse audience, since it's open to all. And you should expect some of them to "boo" and shout "get off the stage", while others are trying to applaud and cheer.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

I write to Loving Wives, and sometimes with the intent to draw out the emotional reactions (good or bad). Last year, I wrote a 750-word story ("Pavlov's Dog - 750 Words") with the goal of seeing how low a rating I could achieve! It has over 15K views, 42 comments, and 751 votes! It's rated 2.27 (and that's after a year of the site admins "1-scraping" where they try getting rid of multiple votes from the same person.) So, I consider that a win!

But remember that every "1" vote and hateful comment is merely ONE PERSON out of the FIFTEEN THOUSAND who viewed your story! Keep it in perspective.
The scores are irrelevant...
You write something and post it where you think it should go.
A high score isn't always a reflection of the quality of the story or the writing. It's merely a reaction from the readers, based on content.
A lot of the readers in LW are looking for a story full of revenge and hate. That's their thing, it's their fetish...
If your story doesn't feed that fetish, they give you a 1. And probably leave a nasty comment.
Who cares...
Write it post it and tell your story... If the small but vocal element of the LW's crowd don't like it. So be it...
They are not the only people who read LW...
If your story scores over 2.5, it means at least half the readers gave it a 5...

You can't please everybody.
Writing is creative, and your work might be loved or hated...
So long as you had fun creating it.

You win...

Your mind is so HOT! You are sweet as pie, with a mind in the gutter with me, and a talent unmatched!

Oh dear... I've just submitted my April Fool's entry into IT... If siblings can't have a bit of fun while doing the deed, what is the point?
It's actually amusing in itself how completely humourless some of the IT fans are. The best example with me would be my body swap comedy series 'Body Swap With Sister's Boyfriend' where a gamer, sci-fi loving nerd swaps bodies with his bossy twin sister's dumb jock boyfriend. No end of crazy things happen as the two young men try to live as each other over five days or so, all of which fail to impress the other humourless characters in the story, none of whom find anything remotely amusing. The humourless reaction of IT readers to the story series somehow made it funnier, at least to me.

I have posted in groups, lesbians, and BDSM with some decent success. Unfortunately, the most extended series I posted to Loving Wives got hammered! At the time, I thought, since these are my mostly true stories and I am a loving wife, it seemed a logical place to post. Then I removed a few stories and placed them elsewhere without significant changes, and they all did so much better.

So what are they looking for in their stories?

PS. I will follow anyone who follows me. I want to make new Author friends!
I actually just posted my first story and since it was about a loving wife & husband I also selected that as the category. The comments were harsh and I got 2 seperate 1-star reviews for "wrong category".

How did you move your story? I'm new to trying to publish and this feels like a kick in the teeth. I'm not seeing a way to edit the tags or category anywhere.

You can message Laurel or Manu and ask that the story be changed to a different category.

When you pick the category, look at the dominant sex themes in your story to choose the right audience.

Loving Wives is supposed to be "Married extra-marital fun: swinging, sharing & more." But you'll find many cheating stories there, because there's no cheating category, just this one for "extra-marital".

Your story doesn't mention anything about extra-marital sex. It's about her sticking things in the guy's butt.

Anal: "The butt, and nothing but. "
or
Fetish: "Feet, panties, food, and other kinky things." (You even mentioned the couple discussing their kinks.)

You'll find a more receptive audience in the right category. But the LW audience will be especially harsh on what they see as "bait & switch" stories which shove something else in their unsuspecting face.

EDIT: Note that while they might change the category for this one story, the damage is done. And moving your story is low on their list of priorities. The low ratings won't change, and as the author you can delete the negative comments. Just select a more appropriate category for the next story.

Two things:

A) Yes, it's in the wrong category, but it's a mistake a LOT of folks make with their first "husband and wife" story. Don't sweat that part. If you want to move it, message Laurel.
B) I laughed really hard at your handle, so well done there.

Resubmit with EDIT in the title. Change the category, and add a note to the editor, saying you want to change category. It might take two or three weeks, maybe longer (edits are low priority), but eventually it will get done.

You won't lose any of the metadata, but you'll have to manage the comments. You might want to wait until it's in the new category before you delete junk comments - if you purge comments where it is, you might get yourself into a troll war.

Thank you for the very specific and informative info, I definitely appreciate you taking the time!

This along with so much of the feedback or like comments I have received is soooo validating and I'm glad others see the kind of...algorithmic but also like flawed, but true matters of opinion. No one should ever be silenced, but like when the tags and category is there, there's an awareness that shouldn't;'t be ignored.

Regardless as someone who has just published almost their entire first series, I understand the category and it's woes. We should all strive to write what makes us happy! ;3

I suppose, since my stories are rougher than the average cuckold story, I should avoid Loving Wives like the plague, right?
Honestly I wouldn't, mine are NTR and it's been a crucible for me, but like follow your heart. The ratings are one thing but when you reach someone its so rewarding.

Oh, to be honest, I don't mind pissing off white, insecure men (boys) especially the burn the bitch crowd. I assume they abound there. I bet they can't handle the BNWO stories. I'd be the one bomb queen after they found me.

You should attach links to your stories.

I dare you to beat my "Pavlov'Dog -750 Words"!

After more than one year in Living Wives, and with 1-scrapings ridding it of repeated haters, it's STILL at 2.28 with 769 votes!

To be fair, that one's pretty fucked up, although "I'm a slut, not a whore" is a great line :) But I do really admire it as a shit-stirring piece!
Re-reading it today, I'm reminded of a piece of advice that I heard from somebody being interviewed on the radio this morning. She was talking about home invasions and our instinct to take the intruder on. She said that we need to consider that the person who has chosen to invade your home has already made at least one really bad decision. We shouldn't trust to their common sense. Dave is definitely going to murder her despite her 'training' and brutal logic, because he's already lost his mind.

You should read my follow-on to the Pavlov's Dog story, in which I expanded it to show what prompted their behaviors and the future. It's "Raging Hormones", and after eleven months, it's at 3.16 with 496 votes. (Spoiler alert: He doesn't shoot her.)
