Day 26: A song from the 20s

i was going to go obnoxious here, but thought better of it...so its dua two days in a row...this song hits home in a lot of ways ๐Ÿ’™

"I used to think that I was made out of stone
I used to spend so many nights on my own
I never knew I had it in me to dance anymore
But goddamn, you got me in love again

Show me that heaven's right here, baby
Touch me so I know I'm not crazy
Never have I ever met somebody like you
Used to be afraid of love and what it might do
But goddamn, you got me in love again"

Dua Lipa - Love Again

Dua Lipa - Love Again

I will fully admit, I slept on Dua Lipa for a long time. I heard a few songs on the radio, usually in passing, and they didn't do anything for me. But when driving home from the coast one day, I turned the radio to NPR and heard an interview with her without knowing who they were talking to. And I really was interested in what she had to say. They gave the name of her last album, and, again not knowing who they were talking to, pulled it up by the title. And I just started listening. And kept listening. And then her other albums. I am really impressed by her music and writing, and I admit I was wrong. (Yes, that does happen. The "admitting" part, not the "being wrong" part).

Day 25: A song from 2010's

Rose Coloured Frames - Mariel Buckley

Very cool. I really liked this one!
Never heard this before... which is not surprising as it is not 70s or metal (lol).
But I really enjoyed this! And I would never have guessed the decade either.
Quite a throwback feel to this whole thing. Thank you for sharing this song!

Day 26: A song from the 2020s with love

Public Service Broadcasting - A Different Kind Of Love
a different kind of song from PSB - The voices at the start are Amelia Earhart and her husband, George. It's from their "Last Flight" album, which uses "found" recordings to tell Amelia's story - PSB have used such recordings from the start, hence their name.
The female vocal is from Eera, who has collaborated with them before.

Day 26: A song from the 20's
Heading back to the Eurovision well for more recent songs.
2023 - "ร‰videmment" - La Zarra

"Mon cล“ur, mes mains, mes yeux, mes reins..." (heart)
"Dans mon jardin d'enfer poussent des fleurs..." (flowers)
"Je cherche l'amour, je n'trouve rien..." (love)
"Ma vie, la vรดtre et un peu de romance" (romance)

+4 for the day, total of 25 for the week.

Day 26: A song from the 20's

Everyone in NJ seems to have a Bruce Springsteen sighting story. โ€œI was at the Key City diner for breakfast and Burce comes up and sits at the counter, plain as day.โ€ Or Bruce unexpectedly makes an appearance at a show: โ€œWe saw ______ and Bruce showed up and played two songs with them.โ€

Not me. Iโ€™ve actually only seen him live 2x. And never had a run-in. Been to dozens of shows down the shore; never seen Bruce show up.

This song is pretty beautiful.

Day 26: A song from the 2020s

The algorithms don't really know what to do with me. The suggestions they give me can get extremely odd. Like this.
I love Frank Sinatraโ€™s music โ€“ it is cool personified. (I am far less enamored with Sinatra himself, but that is neither here nor there.) I have a couple CDs of nothing but hardcore punk covers of Sinatra songs. And I added a few of those to a rather eclectic playlist, and got this song in my feed -- a cover of an Old Blue Eyes standard by a band called Kuerdas, a reggae band out of Santo del Sur. So we have a swinging oldy standard by one of the giant Icons of American music, covered as a reggae song by a band from the Philippines. What's not to love?

"Fly Me to the Moon," Kuerdas (2021)

(Baby, kiss, heart, adore, and love for +5, and a grand total of 39.)

And just to show off a bit, I used all 12 keywords, (love, baby, kiss, romance, hug, heart, sweet adore, chocolate, flowers, crush, and red) over the course of the week. But not "roses..." (If I lose by one point...such a face I will make!)

Day 27 - Song from the 20โ€™s

What Doesnโ€™t Kill You Makes You Paranoid - The Beaches

I guess thatโ€™s a total of 3, maybe 4, points for the week, leaving unquietdreams and whiskeyjack in my dust. Nice try, boys ๐Ÿ˜‚

I will try harder next time...

I like this. "I left my self esteem at the edge of your bedsheets," is an outstanding line. Thank you for introducing me to another new one!

Day 26: A song from the 20s

Silky smooth remix of the Bowie classic, Durand Jones Young Americans~

Plus 1 for 21 Kiss

Day 26: A song from the 20s

Love song adjacent, this one is really about messed up relationships. And what better way to get that message across than using Black Widow spiders as analogy!

"You and I cannibalize
My heart's still beating on the outside
(The devil's at your throat)
We consummate, decapitate
I taste the venom of your love bite
(I'll tear apart your world)"

Haken - Love Bites
