The Beverly Hills Spy: The Double-Agent War Hero Who Helped Japan Attack Pearl Harbor by Ronald Drabkin

I keep flicking between the 200+ stories I have on audible. Every one of them pisses me off or triggers some drama in my head. So currently I'm reading(listening) to about 6 books trying to examine the pieces that resonate.

Wow and I thought I was doing with listening and reading 3 books.

Around 5 hours left of 'Not til we are lost' by Dennis Taylor but I'm struggling to keep an interest. Still, it's better than his previous book.

I read We Are Legion about a year and a half ago on the recommendation of an ex who loves the Bobiverse…unfortunately, the read-through outlasted the relationship :x
Let me know how you like it when you’re done, and if you’d recommend continuing the series?

I finally started The Fourth Wing last night. I had looked it up after seeing several mentions here when the 3rd book in the series came out last month, but what got my interest was reading that the author, her sons and the main character have a rare condition that a longtime friend of mine has(Ehlers-Danlos), and that the author also has another condition I’m 98% sure I have(POTS). Chronic illness and chronic pain aren’t something I see a lot of in action/adventure or fantasy genres, and even rarer written by someone who has experienced it, so that piqued my curiosity. I’m only 20% into the book, but so far the main character is determined not to let her condition (unnamed in her world) stop her! I think my friend must have a much more serious case of ED though, because if she tried half of what main character did on the wrong day, she’d be immobilized for weeks :x Realities of chronic conditions aside, The Fourth Wing grabbed my attention early on and has kept my interest thus far

I recommend book 2 and 3 definitely but there was something about Heaven's River that didn't sit right with me. It felt like (he?) was reaching out of comfort zone to create an intense political type situation but it wasn't nuanced enough. If that makes sense haha. I like that the author is looking into the far reaching consequences of his actions in these books but maybe I'm too much a star trek fan to enjoy the more star wars type future he's portraying. 🤓

Thank you! Maybe I’ll add them to my never ending TBR list in case the mod strikes, but like…on medium-low priority
