You know what I want to know? The biggest secret on the AH.

The moderator should always remain anonymous.
How else can they maintain an air of neutrality?
if we all knew who it was, we would swamp them with shit every time we saw something we don't like...

But here was what I tried to post right at the moment they blocked the thread.

On the 750 thing, I planned three this year. I think I'd done two one year and one the other time I did. I did my first 750 after the challenge expired to see if I could do it. But this year, I did seven, and yeah, that was probably overkill for me to do that many. Bookappy has instituted a 5000-word minimum because shorter (according to the site owner) doesn't sell. Well, my stories did, but of course, for shorter stories, I charged less and think that's his main issue. No such rule exists on his (SOL) free site. People read those stories, so I'm pretty sure people buy them on the other side. I plan on putting all my 750-word stories (all I have written, even those I haven't published) and putting them in a collection to sell at Bookpay and on Amazon.

Another thread just got locked due to infighting.
There was no infighting.
PSG had some over-the-top words, I agree, but I didn't see anything that doesn't happen in other threads too. Either way, even if a few of her posts warranted editing or even a warning from the mod, there was no need to close the thread which lasted for five pages, had some nice discussion, and was absolutely polite apart from a few posts only.

But as usual, whenever we discuss some more serious topics, some snowflake just waits for the opportunity to alert the mod, and @AH_Mod's only impulse is always to close the thread. If one or two people went over the top in a few posts only, why do always the rest of us have to be punished for it?

@AwkwardlySet, I've learned just to ignore the insults. It is usually the response to the insult that results in the insultie being the censored party rather than insultor.

I probably shouldn't have included the second sentence in my final post in the thread. Probably shouldn't have made that post at all, really.

And I didn't consider this as a derailment of the thread in that we are talking about that invisible deity AH_Moderator.

I agree with you about this.

I disagree with you sometimes. I disagree with PSG often. So what? There's nothing inherently wrong with disagreement. It makes things interesting and keeps people on their toes. I dislike shutting down threads because one or two thread-posters have crossed the line. The better response is to shut down the wrongdoer rather than the whole thread. This happens way too often here.

Personally, I don't mind if things get a little boisterous at times. We're adults.

I was taunted with a few posts but I didn't rise to the bait. It was all fine and business as usual in the AH, really. This is a forum for adults, with like 50+ median age even.
I've seen far worse threads that didn't get locked, which means that the mod is either biased, which I don't think is the case, or he doesn't check these threads on his own, so it's some snowflake who alerts him selectively and he just reacts crudely and closes the thread as first action rather than giving warning, editing or whatever. This is ridiculous behavior in a place meant for adults.

Yeah, agreed. Their impulse to take collective action in response to individual transactions needs some reconsideration.

Finally, somewhere I am on the younger side (barely).

@AwkwardlySet, who says we be adults? You take that back.

I don't know who the mod is, but don't think much on it because they're usually pretty fair

On the other hand, there are some mods here that have many people questioning why anyone would appoint them as one.
