I wanted to open up a discussion about something that's been bothering me. I recently posted a story, Double Trouble, which explores consensual degradation and other kinks that are widely present in erotica, particularly on this platform. While I fully expect differing opinions and even strong critiques, I was taken aback by a comment that didn't just criticize my writing but also accused me of being "only interested in my own deviancy" and falsely claimed I was violating the site's guidelines.
What confuses me is that my story is hardly unique in its themes-many stories on here explore taboo and extreme kinks without facing such accusations. I wrote this piece as a request for a friend, which makes the claim that it reflects some kind of personal perversion even more absurd. It's one thing to dislike a story, but it's another to attack an author's character based on assumptions.
I'm curious-have any of you encountered similar responses to your work?
I want to be open to feedback, but I also feel there should be a line between critique and outright hostility.
