They don't want THAT to happen, do they?

Kids dont die in cars?...from alcohol?...u are naive to think that its the tool that is the issue. I feel bad for u

You should probably have posted this in the Politics sub-forum, but while I don't disagree with the premise, it is a complicated issue. Second-Amendment rights are held sacred in the United States, and banning assault weapons is going to be a hard sell.

Ive got ar-15's and when im not touching them, they just sit there. Minding their own business. They are actually pretty lazy. Lazier than a sloth actually. They wont even move an inch. Its really quite impressive, the amount of discipline they have, to just stay in the same spot for weeks on end sometimes. The only time i can ever get em to do anything is when i literally have to grab em and carry them everywhere they go.

Should they ban cars too while they are at it? What about alcohol? Should they keep going til they run out of things asinine.
Ok ill take the bait on ths thread. First off The above response is unintelligent and assinine.
I don't know anyone who buys a car with the intent to kill someone or something. It's a necessity.
But when an organization like the NRA backs up people with mental issues for the 2nd ammendment rights isn't that a bit to far ?
There should be a process like licensing like a car. You also should be capable and responsible assuring a safe place for storage. A minimum age. Insurance ? Plenty of ways to protect responsible gun owners and people who have no business near a gun. As far as assault weapons I don't see the use for them. I never thought I would be an assault car !
I live in NY with a so called tough law on guns. I have no issue with the process.

So you find it prudent to fight "unintelligent and assinine" with unintelligent and assinine? Thats a well thought out plan.

So here we go...your premise is that everyone that buys guns is for the sole purpose of kiling someone. Ignorant take on your part. Sure nobody buys a car with the intent on killing someone (for the most part), but yet, it happens everyday. Do u want to argue that point? Cars account for a significant more deaths each year than guns. If the goal is to save lives, then start with the greatest taker of lives instead of trying to push an agenda.

If tougher gun laws worked, then explain the significantly higher gun related deaths in cities where those laws are toughest. Your only handcuffing people from being able to defend themselves....u know, the law abiding citizens?

The purpose of buying a car is for transportation, school, work, travel many uses a necessity for most people. There are over 283 million car owners in the USA. With approx almost 41,000 deaths.
There are 107 million gun owners, people buy guns for hunting sport and protection. That's it. There were 46, 700 deaths attributed to gun violence. That's less than half ownership per gun/auto but more deaths. Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children.
As a gun owner I have no agenda. But I don't want some ahole walking into a store or gun swap buying an assault weapon ( name says it all) buying unlimited rounds of ammo and walking out with no one knowing who that person is and why he/she needs an ASSAULT weapon. It's not an agenda it's common sense.
Where do you live that you need an assault weapon for protection ? How bad of a hunter are you that you need to shoot 400 rounds per minute (AR-15 bump stock) ? I like my venison without lead thank you. Again it's common sense.

PS I apologize for the asinine comment. But I have an issue when someone uses that comparison. I said my peace on this thread. I'm here for fun not to get aggravated. Hopefully so are you.

Guns don't kill CHILDREN, ASSAULT WEAPONS kill CHILDREN.

Just remember that.

If lawmakers want it stop, then all they have to do is reinstate the federal ASSAULT WEAPONS ban.

Once they pass the ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN, then there will NEVER AGAIN be another CHILD MASSACRE like SANDY HOOK.

Dems lack the huevos to get it done.

Barry talked a game and did nothing when he had Congress.

Broadway Joey talked a game and did nothing when he had Congress.

It's a talking point and nothing more. They still remember when Repubs handed Clinton his ass in '94.

It's about power.

Still didn't see your definition of an ASSAULT WEAPON, but if you need help about CARS killing people talk to MADD.

The Columbine attack happened during the AWB. Made no difference.

Riddle me this: What guns do you think people should be allowed to own / use / carry? What level of gun ownership do you support?

If they had used AR-15s, then the casualties would have been 10 times higher.

Do you want more children to get shot?
No. But you could ban all gun sales and kids would still be getting shot / shooting eachother and good people wouldn't be able to defense themselves.

The answer is to work on the problems, (innocent people getting shot) without denying the right of good people to protect themselves and their children with guns.

Assault weapons like the AR-15 are too powerful to be allowed into the hands of civilians.

We shouldn't let civilians own these guns any more than we should let civilians own (CBRN) chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear weapons.

In fact, the AR-15 should be legally designated as a weapon of mass destruction.
