The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Oh…it gets better! Buckle in. Get started on a normal day yesterday and try to find a plumber for my mom’s place. They’ve been getting a…smell. ☹️. We find someone who’ll do an emergency run (he actually go there early) and as we were due for an Ice storm I didn’t mind paying the call out fee.

He goes into he crawl space and comes out with some lovely news! The 55 yr old cast iron pipe had rusted and split under the kitchen sink…buuuuuut, he can’t do any work until the crawl space is cleared. Seems the original contractor and other’s mom and dad hired used that area to just leave whatever plaster and concrete rubble they discarded. No problem right?

Well the two bathrooms are hooked to that same cast Iron pipes with a check valve, so no sewage was getting through, but the gasses were! 🫢🥴🤢. So not only were they smelling the bog gas, there was a mold issue…

So I packed the whole tribe up and moved them in. Son is taking our granddaughter to Chapel Hill for her C-diff…a round of anti-b’s didn’t clear it so we’re worried about that…she seems fine but something’s not right.

So here I sit…waiting on contractors and doctors…not sure who I pissed off in the cosmos Lili but when it rains it pours!

At least the worst of the Ice storm missed us…come on Spring!

Cast iron makes a great waste line . . . until it doesn't.

Good luck with all of that!!!

Well today is the end of our wildfowling season and it has been poorest I have ever known with so few geese about. The plus was this boy learning to settle in the mud and cold of a Scottish winter.

That is an interesting tool you have for geesing. I always used an auto from Benelli or a pump from Browning in anti-aircraft gauge for the shy ones.

*Whispers "it was 65 here yesterday"*
It was in the 20s all day today. It started snowing around 2pm and by the time I had to drive home at 530, it was pretty slick out. Not too much accumulation, but everything was pretty slippery!

Luckily not too many people on the roads and I had my pickup.

It’s finally gonna warm up to 35 over the weekend. This has been a winter.

Long day! Early start with a 730am meeting and a late leave time.

We’ve been selling firewood left, right and center, so I had to fill up the farm stand and also bundle up a buncha kindling.

It’s been fuckin cold and I think people are running low on firewood.

Shopped in our freezer for dinner again (veggie lasagna leftover from Christmas). I am determined to not throw away any food.
