Sex & Shenanigans

Some of my fantasies I'd definitely love to do, but I have others that would be far too dangerous to make a reality. The nonconsensual ones may be hot to think about, but I don't want to be hurt (or worse).
Thats more than reasonable, best to leave those to the stories

Do you think fantasies are things you can have that are just for your brain and not be things you actually want to do or have done to you?

when you read an erotic story … do you imagine yourself as one of the characters? Or are you observing it from the outside like a ghostly presence?
Almost always imagine myself as both characters. Especially in my own writings I can see myself in either role.

Pure switch :giggle:

Both.

Are you familiar with arousal non-concordance?

Arousal and disgust can occupy the same neural pathways and it's possible to have things exist in an erotic part of your brain that don't translate to your body at all. The adverse is also true; our body can have physical reactions that appear to be arousal yet our brains are not interpreting those signals as arousal.
It's normal and natural and I with l wish we all understood this better.

I tend to have fantasies that I'd never act out. My brain's job is to think and I let it go and have thoughts knowing that I'm not going to act on them. The trick for me is to put space between the stimulation and response. I give myself to explore in my mind so I don't act stupid in real life.

I can't visualize things well so when reading erotica I tend to not put myself in the middle of a story. I let it unfold in front of me and enjoy the experience.

Absolutely, I have a ton of fantasies that can be very erotic in my mind because I'm creating and controlling all of the variables & factors. However, in real life they'd be dangerous to my safety, or have long standing consequences. I like what @aussiegeekygal said. I think we often judge ourselves for our secret inner life. Just let it happen, see where those thoughts lead, it doesn't mean you actually have to engage in (insert your secret weird sex desires here) in real life. *I should add the caveat that maybe you shouldn't indulge in thoughts of illegal acts w/people & things that cannot consent, ya know, cause that's bad, and you're not tough enough for prison

Take rape/CNC fantasies as an example. A lot of people have them, and yet I've yet to meet an assault victim who rejoiced in the crime committed. Is it really about that, or is it the complete loss of control for someone who may feel they have to be in control all of the time IRL? For some victims, the fantasy is a way to rewrite what happened. There are so many variations, so many different avenues our arousal can take. Don't judge yourself, and don't assume that just because your mind painted a deviant picture, you're now required to go live it out.

Depends, usually observing it

Yep, and I am oddly susceptible to it. I hate being tickled and I'm terribly ticklish. It doesn't take much tickling to get me into helpless hysterics. If I were to be tickled like that, I'd be extremely angry at whoever did it, and I'd be exhausted from trying to resist it. On top of that, however, I know from experience that as I calm down, I'd find myself throbbingly aroused at the same time. Nothing like that has happened for years, but when it did, it was wildly frustrating.

Yes. A lot of fantasies I have I'm not sure I want to actually fulfill irl. But some, I have or will.

I'm very voyeuristic, but I can put myself in a characters shoes(or lingerie) pretty easily.

Yes.

Yes. I'm usually the guy. If there is one.

Yes, and I think that it also needs to be said that if you do try something out, and it just doesn't work for you and you never want to try it again, it is perfectly normal and good to go back to fantasizing about it if you enjoy that. You can still love how you think it should be, regardless of how it was.

Depends on how much I connect with a character, as well as how it is written. First person is easier to immerse yourself in, and third is more observational. (Second is more intimate, but works better for me in a one on one fantasy that I am laying out to a partner audibly. It is just...weird in prose.)

I am a third party observer.
