The sad thing is that all of these things are attainable in theory. But the ghouls of the world are just way to happy letting late-stage capitalism, greed, and cruelty destroy us.

Youre giving capitalism way too much credit here versus basic human depravity. Why blame the devil when people are evil enough on their own?

Fair, capitalism is just a system designed by people though. In other countries, they've found ways to put checks on capitalism that allow for societies that at least look and feel more just than America's. Americans, in their mass depravity, have allowed themselves to believe that there's always some 'other' who should be beneath them on the ladder. We were never the homogenous society that many European nations were, so we were never willing to lay that groundwork out of fear that the 'other' might be out on equal footing with us.

I wish I could remember her name, but there was a talk with an anthropologist who was asked what defines whether or not the peoples of a dig site were considered in a civilization, and she said it was whether there was evidence they cared for their sick, elderly and injured. If they were a migratory people, but still took the old, sick and infirm with them instead of leaving them behind, they were civilized. If there was evidence of broken bones being set and healed, rather than the injured person left to die on the trail, they were civilized. If there was evidence of medicinal applications to all ranks of people, they were civilized.

By this definition and probably more than a few others, we are dangerously close to becoming uncivilized.

Calming games like Animal Crossing… which I just figured out after 2 years WTF to do …

And then hubby and I are playing “It Takes Two” and simultaneously laughing hysterically and yelling at each other … it’s awesome. After we had been playing for a few hours on one night we were both getting tired … and we were trying to figure out a particular puzzle and I ended up dropping his character into a vat of boiling sugar accidentally. I laughed so hard and couldn’t stop. I don’t know why it was so funny but I had tears rolling down my cheeks and could barely breathe.

Good times!
