CHILDREN were KILLED by ASSAULT WEAPONS at SANDY HOOK, we NEED to BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS.

A stupid and lazy argument in that all terms are made up, doh
The ONLY way to prevent this from happening again is to BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS.

Once they do that, then there will NEVER AGAIN be another large mass shooting, especially one involving CHILDREN.

Australia's 1996 gun control laws, including bans on semi-automatic and pump-action rifles and shotguns, have been linked to a reduction in firearm deaths, suicides, and mass shootings.

It's revolting the way people fetishize guns. If I played with a guillotine in my basement or with the makings of a pipe bomb, you'd think I was a psycho. But playing with guns that can kill dozens from hundreds of yards away in a mere minute? Nope, doesn't raise an eyebrow; that's just people enjoying their 2nd amendment. That's how far gone we are. I visited a gun store just once, to sell a framed dueling pistol that was part of a relatives estate. There were 10 creepy people (men and women) hanging out, drinking coffee casually debating lethality of various guns. Fucking weirdos. Millions of children are traumatized daily as they are forced to practice lock down drills - all so that these creepy assholes can have their favorite play thing. It's a wonder any of them ever get laid.

And the argument that they are necessary to protect against a rogue gov't is BS. There's ZERO precedent of a citizen successfully winning a shootout with the Gov't or law enforcement. Elect better leaders is your only way to prevent such a thing.

Can anyone in favor of a ban on “assault weapons” define what makes them so much worse than any other semi-automatic rifle? Even ones with a pretty wood stock like your grandpappy might have had?

Just curious. In my experience, the answer is no. Most proponents of these bans believe that these “assault weapons” are fully automatic (“machine guns”), which they’re not, and that they’re particularly powerful (which is wildly incorrect, since the oft targeted AR-15 pattern rifle fires a standard .223 caliber or 5.56mm cartridge - MUCH less powerful than amy standard 30 caliber hunting round).

It’s easy to say that complaining “assault weapon” is a made up term is merely a matter of semantics, but the fact is that most ban proponents have no idea what they’re actually wanting to ban or why.

One of these is an ASSAULT WEAPON, and the other is not. Can you guess which one it is?

What legislators need to understand is that If we don't get our gun laws passed, then more CHILDREN are going to DIE!

They don't want THAT to happen, do they? 😉 😉
