Valentines Day Contest Support Thread 2025

Congrats @Rollinbones, @thanagar and @Voboy. I haven't read the latter two yet (I will) but Treehouse Rules was bloody fantastic and it's great to see an Australian yarn on top since we don't really do Valentine's Day all that seriously. I've had an April Fool's idea that I quite like, so I might see some of you good people over there...

yeah unless I get a good idea, April Fool's is out. I am half done with nude day so I will definitely be entering that one.
Same, I also intend to enter the Nude Day one. I haven’t started writing mine yet but I know the basics of what I want to do with it. I’ve got one in mind for the Summer Lovin’ Contest too.

Those will have to wait for a bit, the world in my main series is about to expand and I want to nail it.

Thanks. Was a bit of a surprise really. A lot of bloody ripper yarns in there.

Not to prolong this, but I just looked again at the comments on the story, and saw this one from @xtrail65 (my emphasis) : "RB, Mate, this is one of the best, funniest and just downright cutest story I have ever read. Laughed so hard my work mate just fucking stared at me. Awesome job mate loved it. I sincerely hope it does well in the competition."

So an erotica story that has as one of its first lines "Section 1. Best Friends Forever Act. 1985. Don't be a cunt" turns out to be suitable for work after all? That is fucking hilarious.

Congratulations to the winners! Some great stories this year.

In the past I've rarely seen much impact from a sweep but this year it's propelled my entry to 4.86 (currently) which is my highest-rated story ever.

Already looking forward to next year.
THIS!

Mine sat squarely on 4.83 for most of the comp. I really felt like that was a fair appraisal. Lately though there has been a lot more... energy expended by people invested in keeping their stories where they want them. As a result of the sweeps through this competition, the all time list in Romance has reverted pretty much to where it was three months ago before entities started bombing anything over 4.8 for whatever reason they have. I felt lucky to win this more than deserved. Maybe the algorithms were in my favour; that's where i see things, especially having read a few of the other quality stories now. In any case, I have a shiny new fishing reel coming from America that i could never afford over here with our exchange rate. Thanks Laurel and Manu. $150US is $236.67 AUD at the moment. So i'm smiling down under if anyone wants pics. If you don't know how to smile down under then hook up with an Aussie soon.

Good luck everyone with April Fools day. I'll see you again when we get nude.

First off, congratulations, and I'll extend that to anyone that took part with an entry irrespective of what genre, if it was their first piece of work submitted or a seasoned story writer. As a collective, we make these stories fun to produce, along with all of the banter that rolls back and forth through the story theme forum thread makes it an enjoyable journey. I write as a release from day-to-day life, it's fun for me and do my best to provide (hopefully!) enjoyment for others by sharing my work.

As for scoring, yeah it does seem that if there are those that want to manipulate the score, I watched my entry "Table For Two, Out Back" score really well on release then out of the blue several hours later it's score plummeted in a window of around thirty minutes with a small number of votes being cast. After the sweep it's back at 4.84, more or less where it was sitting before being bombed out. Shame it has to happen, there are a diverse mindset of individuals that use Literotica so there are going to be those that have an issue with others one way or another, although I'm pretty sure it's a very, very small minority.

I heartily agree with your words there. This is about the fun, the release, and the pleasure of seeing others enjoy the work (and improving skills).
In terms of how large a minority it is... up to 11% of votes for some LW stories I wrote in December got swept, and 8% of my 750 word entry for this comp (Cheating the Gods, submitted in Romance). To be honest, that leaves a bad taste, but it does suggest that 90% of votes might be okay at least. I guess it's just really important that we all commit to not being part of the problem. That said, I have no doubt at all that the winners are very worthy of the honour.

LW is certainly the category where the bulk of the trolls live. I published a LW story at the beginning of the week, a few days before that a 750 BDSM story centred around a high flying guy being the sub in his married life.
Its score dipped quickly after the LW release, presumption is readers jumped into it after reading the LW entry, and many LW readers, be my humble impression, aren't over keen on women being portrayed that way. Not sure what others views are on this one?

Oh yeah, there are lots of people on LW who are all about real men being on top. Not everybody, thank goodness.

Thank to everyone for this thread, which always makes being in these contests fun. And congrats to Rollinbones and Voboy for their excellent stories.

Treehouse and Cupids had the same score, but Treehouse has far more votes and readers.

I’m thrilled, but I was this close to defending my title in this contest. Ah well…
