My submissions are getting ignored because of the ongoing competitions?

At the time of writing, I have a series with 22 chapters but 9 of these are stuck in pending because the mods refuse to take a look at them since late December. When I asked about this in the forums, people said it's likely because they have to focus on the submissions of competitions. What competitions are still on right now and when will they end? When should I try to resubmit my chapters? Just because as I've seen, sending a PM to Laurel is totally useless because I already did it twice in these two months with no result.

There aren’t “mods” ignoring your submissions. The mods only support the forum and the chat side of things here. The person you’re insulting and calling useless is the person reading all of the stories. I often think she should talk on some help, but the site is the best story site out there and she built it.

She doesn’t always answer PMs, but she does read them and act on them. I don’t have any insight into why your stories haven’t been published, but I would encourage you to shoot her another PM, hopefully a respectful one.

I was talking about the PMs being useless, not her.

The Valentine's Day contest ends today, so perhaps that will speed things up. At least until next month when April Fool's Day begins.
Thank you.
Should I try to resubmit my submissions? They were submitted at different times so maybe it would make it easier for Laurel to find them.

I wouldn't. At most send Laurel a polite message to nudge the process, but resubmitting your stories will only start the entire process over.

I'm having the same issue, I've had two stories in pending for over 2 weeks. It's making me seriously reconsider using this site and going back to just posting on Wattpad and Tumblr.

Having said that, the community here is great, just wish it didn't this long to submit stories.

Like you, I sent a message to Laurel and I've noticed that someone (likely a mod or editor) edited the titles of my stories and both of them got their timers reset, so I think i got pushed to the back of the queue again.

Patience is the name of the game I guess. But it's nice to vent a little. I would also advise against re-dubmitting. I did that and it didn't help. The two stories were in pending for over a week, i thought it was a glitch so deleted and resubmitted from scratch, now they've been in pending for 2 weeks lol

No, that means your story has been processed, and is in the release queue.

Laurel holds stories for a day or two in some cases so that the flow into every category is as even as it can be, taking into account the different category volumes. If your titles have changed, that means you're in the publication queue, not the vetting queue.

^^^^ And editing after that throws it all kaddywhompers as noted below vvvvvv.

Ahh, ok, makes sense, usually tho, when the story has been approved and is in the queue it sits in my pending section but says "published". Right now they've been sitting in pending since the 8th of Feb with no movement and still just marked as pending, that's what I found odd.

Hopefully it will flip to New very soon, and should then be published just after midnight, some time-zone in the US. For me here in Oz, it's always mid afternoon, around three. Depends on daylight saving.

How...did Velle and I get dragged into this? We don't even have anything to do with the forum other than answering chat related stuff.

Also sweetness if you have ever taken a look at the forum you will see large amounts of "why is my story still pending?!!" posts...it can take some time so...here is me being the bad guy and saying calm your tits and wait. You are not the only one who has had an issue I mean looking below there is 5 threads in the similar threads list with the same complaint. So yeah...Lits not perfect but it is by far one of the better sites of its kind with a larrrrge population that submits things.

I've had the next two chapters of a story in 'pending' since 24 January after I foolishly resubmitted them. I don't think there's any real option but to wait.

has anyone actually had any stories approved in the last week or so. I've had stories waiting since January too. I submitted another one today and now have 3 in my pedning folder. If there is a big backlog it will take a long time to clear otherwise they'll end up flooding the site if they just open the flood gates and mass approve all these stories...

I mean, you can go into New Stories and see that literally hundreds of stories get published every day. I had a story approved and published this last Tuesday.

Unless you're following some kind of "Dead Internet," conspiracy theory and believe that none of those authors are real... 🙄
