Trump never made a deal for Canada to allow their open border to spill over into ours.
He didn't forget. He is reminding them their border is their responsibility. Same as Mexico. And now they have returned their troops to their northern border. And they have placed troops at their southern border. Good thing. Because our troops are 3500 strong and ready to return fire with the cartel should the opportunity arise. And keep in mind US Troops are good at protecting the border. Years of practice.

Ummm tell me again, which country's border authority do you report to, when exiting Canada into the United States?

There are no military troops at the northern border from either country, that is illegal by treaty.

Mexico has added troops to their southern border to prevent migrants from entering Mexico to come to the US. Mexico returned troops to their northern border after the discussion on tariffs.
The US had 2500 soldiers to the border the day P Hegseth was confirmed. Now another 1000 have been added.
As for Canada, their border is open. The infiltration of the US from the north is not via a border crossing. As you say it is US Customs as you enter the US. Which now they will need to be in place to know who is leaving. While it is an option, Trump has no desire to close the border to Canada. We are balancing trade and stopping the flow of illegal drugs. Plus while their border is so lax, there is infiltration form the north. That has become an issue too. They need to work on that. Just because they will let anyone in does not mean we should have to clean up their mess.

There is nothing in the agreement with Trump to monitor who is leaving Canada. That is illegal under our Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Trump is not breaking the deal. He made it if I remember correctly. It replaced the NAFTA deal Clinton made in yours and Mexico's favor.

NAFTA came about from the FTA, which was between only Canada and US. Mexico was brought in and it became NAFTA. It has now been renegotiated,and in the agreement, Canada lost on soft wood lumber, but won on Dairy and on Chapter 11. Both of which Trump was adament about dropping from the agreement. Strangley they are both still there.

Canada and US both won, on getting Mexico to raise it's base hourly labour paid to employees working in the automobile sector.

Please explain what you think the US lost. You know in the deal Trump negotiated?

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has paused imposing tariffs on small-value packages arriving from China, apparently to give federal agencies time to sort out how to process millions of such shipments that have come through the U.S. border every day without paying taxes.

The executive order, dated Wednesday, didn't say when the pause would end but said it would cease when the Department of Commerce could put in place “adequate systems” to “fully and expediently process and collect tariff revenue.”

“The volumes are absolutely incredible,” Lash said. “And all of a sudden, they go from not requiring filing (for tariffs) ... to actually requiring full filing, which is a complicated task.”
