I overhauled my diet a few years ago when I hit a landmark birthday.

That is a sentence I never thought I'd write. Twenty years ago, breakfast was probably last night's chicken dopiaza and garlic naan with black coffee, and a warm up before playing sport (on the rare occasions i did) consisted of Ibuprofen and a pint. But there comes a point, depressing as it may be, when you actually have to look after your body more intentionally if you want it to keep working.

So now my body is a temple. Although so is the Parthenon, which is ancient, was blown up in 1683, had the best bits chiselled off in the 1790s, and is now generally closed and covered with scaffolding. But I'm good with making becoming a UNESCO heritage site my health and fitness goal.

For me, doing that with diet and incorporating exercise into my day works well. I flatly refuse to join a gym. Just won't.

I don't meditate, don't get enough sleep, and ice baths and cold showers are the work of Satan. But yes to breathing exercises, though it's a bit of a giveaway if I say what kind.

I have no clue what makes anyone taste better - wouldn't that be a matter of personal taste anyway?

Our sleep schedule is completely fucking wrecked because of chemo and surgery after effects. We had lunch/dinner at 4 today, looked at each other and said “ready for bed?”
I've had insomnia since I was a child, it really sucks, I'm very jealous of people who can just easily fall asleep. I've not had chemo, just observed the effects of radiation in my spouse. He was down for the count.
