Trump is not as important as some seem to think

Donald Trump may destroy the Republican Party. It's hard to see how they come back from this.
In that event, we will have a new party system. It will still be a two-party system -- the Fifth Party System, inaugurated by FDR, was a two-party system with the Dems as the dominant "sun party" and the Pubs as the reactive "moon party." It would be like that.

But that still would not make Trump a transformative figure on FDR's level -- the Seventh Party System would begin with the first Democratic president to follow him.

Of course he is important. He is the president. He's just not as important as is assumed by the starters of the threads linked in post #5.
What you mean to say he is not important to you. Anything else is speculation. :)

See post #26.

We're about due for a Seventh Party System anyway -- this could be the catalyst. But it won't be a system the Pubs dominate.

But we're not talking about Ford. We're talking about a guy that has threads made about him. Every. Damn. Day. Seems pretty important.
Those threads reflect the extremism that he has taken politics toward.

If he were a Ford level president, he wouldn't be getting attention here. Even Biden is still on the minds of many here and they froth at every opportunity to skewer him. Are the two in the same league of the presidency?

I don't believe so.

You're comparing FDR's world to Trump's? Might as well use Fred Flintstone's. :)

The litigation should slow him down but if he ignores injunctions, he will become quite important to Luigi-types

This is (supposedly) about how Trump is less important. Every. Single. Day.

He won't be assassinated. If the Secret Service could keep him alive in his first term, they can do it again.

During his first term we suspected Trump was corrupt but now we know. I sense his days are numbered. Vance is a better option because he’s not in debt to Putin

So this is what it's like to watch leftists come to the realization there will never be another Democrat holding the presidential office again.

I wouldn't be so sure. FDR was elected in the first place to clean up an economic disaster brought about by unbridled right-wing economic policy.

So anyone who opposes Trump is a leftist? Wake up, son

You think it's funny that security clearances are being handed out to people who likely couldn't earn them, do you?
