No. How do you do that to your mother? It's like I know she needs to be evaluated, but doing it too soon would just be an insult and embarrassing to her. I think she knows because she spends an awful lot of time telling us she's not crazy when she describes these events to us.

On a brighter note, I got some sleep last night because my teenager did what I asked her to do. WOOT! Time for a celebration! Thank you! Thank you! I'll be signing autographs of my new book, "How to unknowingly inspire your teenager to listen and do 5% of what you tell them", over by the peanut gallery for only $20.
*Cash only please.
That’s a tough one, bro.

I have nothing I can say or add other than I’ve been there and it’s a very delicate balance…

But great move on getting your kid to unwittingly doing something!!

Dachshunds are a breed to be reckoned with! There were three kids in the neighborhood that had the first pool back in the 70’s. Both parents worked so the whole neighborhood would sneak into their back yard for summer dips. The problem was you had to “sneak” past no less than 8-12 wiener dogs! I think they ran a rescue or something for them, but man those things were terrifying! We’d send one kid around the house to distract then we’d all go jump in before Dieter the Dog nipped your ankle1 😂
Sounds like great summertime kid fun adventure!!!

Talk to her doctor ..... or to your own about your concerns. Get advice about next steps....

Let them explain it from a med perspective...

You can't let your moms illness destroy your family.... if she is a danger to the health and wellbeing of herself or the people who care for her she needs a medical evaluation and steps must be taken.... you are not required to implode your life for your parents.....it isnt in the son and daughter manual

What if it was something that is not alzheimers or dementia but another medical issue that could be solved with medicine or a procedure..... her momentary embarrassment or anger is a small price for her, your and your wife and kids wellbeing
Right there! Yes.

My moms dementia was staved off by some meds she took and it gave her 10+ more years of being with it.

Morning everyone. Bar keep, hope you're doing well. If ya don't mind, I'd like a mug of black, engine room coffee, a toasted whole wheat bagel, with a dab of butter and a dribble of honey.

Pardon? Oh, what is engine room coffee? One of the best mugs of coffee I've ever had was made in the starboard engine room of a LPD, which is an Amphibious Transport Dock, also known as a Landing Platform Dock; a gator freighter and the first ship I rode. I was a young and dumb HTFN or Hull Tech Striker, an E-3 junior enlisted.

The coffee was made in a thirty-cup percolator that looked as if had been there since the ship had been commissioned and never cleaned. They used boiler feed water, which is some of the purest water you'll ever find, to make their coffee. Hot, black and strong; and you never let one of the Snipes see you add cream or sugar, if they did you wouldn't be drinking any more of their coffee.

Oh, thanks bar keep, I see somebody's at the corner table. I'll just slide down out of the way at the end of the bar.

Ouchie! Did they evaluate her for concussion and/or bleeding? Scalp wounds bleed like you opened an artery! 🫂🫂
Yup! Definitely did all the checks/scans for concussion, neck injury etc. Suprisingly it did not bleed as much as one would have expected looking at the sized of the gash. She was wearing a ski beanie so that offered a tiny bit of protection but could have been much worse.

Sounds like my kind of coffee!

Try telling her that there are drugs that can slow it down/stop it, but only if you catch it WAY early.
She might WANT to get evaluated with a little proper motivation...

Good morning Wat and Boat. Yes the ice is here and I am not walking anywhere. The salt trucks are out but the side roads are bad.

How are others doing in this crappy icy weather? Be safe and try to stay warm.

I go this afternoon to have the biopsy of the prostate. I heard it’s quick and not painful. I am taking Tylenol with me to get ahead of any pain. And my GF is going with me for moral support. I am glad she is part of my life.
Wishing you all the best today... and 🤞 for good results 🫂 🫂

Mean roosters around here get put in the pot
We had a little banty rooster named rudy that I loved. He came to us because the previous owner said he was mean. We threw him right into gen pop the first day and he went straight to the Head rooster tried to fight with him. Well Rue was three times the size and twice as mean but he wouldn't give up. But Rue took a break and then Fred came over and fought with him, and then Adolf, and then Joe.. have you ever seen chicken sweat and pant before? So we went in to save him, and it made an impression because after that he was the sweetest little banty rooster ever. If a human picked him up he would coo and snuggle in. He liked to ride on the tractor with us, he liked to come up on the porch and just sit in the Box around his humans. He unfortunately passed away but he was a great rooster.

Thank you K. I guess I'm too close to the problem to be able to step back and form a solution. This really helps. I'll come up with a way to get some private time with her doc on Tuesday without tipper her off.

She is very paranoid right now if people don't talk a little louder so she can hear. She thinks they are saying mean things about her.

Yeah..... or send him an email ahead of time... does she need hearing aids? May help a little bit too

May also be worth it to talk to office nurse or ma.... they can let him know in the background......

I haven't had a lot of luck getting a hold office staff over the phone but its worth filling their inbox with requests I think.
