The 2025 750 Word Story Challenge Support Thread

It’s very exciting. 1.5k views in three days!
Mine, “Coned” is hovering below 4, which is fine.
There are some really good stories out there. And one from @Erozetta that is so dark that I could hardly finish it, let alone rate it
Well, I know it's one of three options...

(My apologies, I can get caught up in character studies sometimes and the villains are the most fun to explore. I'm assuming it was The Climb?)

I think that you get bonus points for getting a comment from 26thNC that *wasn't* the least constructive one received. And, as I impled in my comment, if you're going to write a story about an evil fucker, you chose the right place and audience for it and pulled it off well.

I was curious if anyone would comment on/pick up him being a predator. A few seemed to. And I don't think the readers in that category understand how difficult it can be for some women to leave their husband/partner, even when he's a giant predatory douche. It can be particularly difficult if he hasn't hit her.

I want to build on the story. It would do absolutely abysmally here, but it would be a hell of a survival and perseverance story.

Yes, that one. I commented as anon that I couldn’t rate it.
It's perfectly okay to rate it a 1 if you want. I would absolutely understand that just from the emotional toll of reading it, let alone my grammar errors, lol.

I am surprised! An Enjoyable Thank You went up about 10 hours ago in Loving Wives. Right now: Votes 4.36/554, reads 6.2k, comments 8. My second one hasn't hit yet.

Huh. Wow.
Yeah, kinda' took me by surprise. I hoped it would be in the mid-3s (I'm a pessimist!). I got some good comments on it, but there is always one who, no matter what, has got to be a...what was that term?? Oh yeah, lower body orifice for expelling waste.

"Wrong category, not a loving wives story, unless she just got back from whomever she was fucking."

Math geeks, you got love them, right?
I had a quick look at how harsh the scoring is using the method that I discussed in another thread. This graph shows the current score percentiles for 750 Word stories published this week (black line) against a few others - the recent and all-time scores for all stories, the all-time stories for stories with '750 word' in the text, and everybody's favourite kicking horse (Loving Wives, scored for all time and for the past 12 months).

Caveats:
1) the data is very noisy for the recent stories - only 44 in the sample.
2) the 'all time' 750 search returned some noisy data (non 750 word project stories) that I didn't bother cleaning up
3) it's unlikely that there has been much 'sweeping' of story scores for the recent stories, so the data will include some 'bombs' as well as the expected 'meh, I didn't get my rocks off' scores.

With that all said, the scores for the stories submitted this week are clearly harsher than you'd expect for an average story. If you're feeling a bit flat about that, please remember that this is simply expected behaviour from the voters, and you didn't submit the story in order to win any contest but to have fun and stimulate the readers and other authors. And the scores will likely improve after the sweeps anyway. If you are submitting your 750-word cuckold story into Loving Wives, well, that will give us a bit more data between the 1st and 5th percentile :) (Note to self: let's do it!)

Finally hooked a fish in my LW story comments!

Not sure what to say about this story but one thing that I will say this 750 words is so utterly stupid the amount of great stories that have been hacked to pieces just to try and make 750 words is so stupid and what for hardly anything in this day and age what you win is nothing. All I see is as I said is great stories that have been ruined.

You should let them know we don't have a chance of winning anything with these 'cause it's not a contest. That should make their ears steam.
What? No prizes? No trophy? What kind of fuckery is this?

Dang! I'm happy with the 5 votes I have so far. It's broken the 4.0 barrier (for now), Thank you @MillieDynamite for the kind words.
Yeah, the number of votes in LW are usually big compared to some others. The number of votes didn't surprise me. If the crowd there was put off by the story, there would be as many votes, but the score would have been down where I thought it was going to be low 3s - high 2s. I'm not much of a prognosticator of how the readers will receive a story, especially in LW, but they seem to like it. That throws a bucket of calm on my apprehension at doing this.
