Oddly enough, I fully expected it on one of the three, but not on two of the three, lol.

Lonely wife becomes a cam girl in loving wives. Yeah, fully expected this to get a 1 and it did.

Husband who made wife lonely by ignoring her needs in an effort to break her finds out she's become a cam girl. Up in the air on what I was expecting vote-wise (low 'cause 750, but toss up 'cause he finds out that she's never shown herself on cam before, just got off with a dildo while in the bath in all of the videos. He's watching her debate whether to show everything or not live, and privately lets her know that he knows. I'm gonna write a follow up on it where they make an actual career of "cucking" her husband on camera, but it's just husband and wife fucking in a role play and him paying penance for being such a dick to her.) Kind of expected around a 2 on this one 'cause husband is genuinely an ass and admits it.

The one I didn't expect an immediate 1 on was the erotic horror, but there it was. Ah well. Can't please everyone.

They're up. Why are the basement dwellers so aggressively brutal today?

They live to make your life a living hell. They're jealous of your creativity and skill so instead of enjoying your work they cry out for attention. They don't have the guts to leave a note saying why they voted so low, chances are they don't even read your work. Then there are some misguided trolls who have a favorite author and will pummel your work to elevate their favorite's work. Hopefully you'll accumulate enough votes based on merit to overcome their shortsighted tantrum.

It was pretty jarring to see that. Usually, I start out in the upper 4's before the 1 star basement dwellers arrive.

I don't even look at my scores until later in the day. Its always exciting to see a high score on a new piece of work, but lately there are a handfull, maybe just one creature that pounds everything on the New Story list. Laurel oddly believes that trolls are people too and lets them play, regardless of how many writers they drive away.

It's fairly common with 750s, doubly so 750s in loving wives. I basically just said, "Hey, you wanna get real pissed off? Here ya go! Now tear me apart!" while smiling.

1.4 k views and 80 votes.. avg dropped to 2.23... that's the highest vote ratio for me and yes looks like they are brutal today..

Do quotes around dialog count as words?

Yes. My story last year was all dialog until the last sentence.
No, quotes don’t count as words.
To get a LE word count, paste your story into the submission box and open the expanded box (click on little arrows in the right upper corner.) Then look in the lower left corner for the word count. This gives the total count and incudes any intro or other thing you may have written in addition to the 750 word story. I usually paste my story first to make sure that the word count is correct before I add any preface.

A Good Decision and Ella's Revenge are up, and being received well, I think. I've always seen the 750 word stories as a nice exercise and past that, more of a teaser to make readers look for your other work. I'm seeing spikes in views/favorites on my other work so they are doing their job. Thanks very much to @Actingup for the nice comments.

I read the story twice. Once after reading this. I never got the impression hubbie knows her activities. He's just an ass from the description. You mentioned years, but not how many. But supposedly he told her about his previous relationships (assume at least one was a marriage) where he was a devoted mate/companion.
. The woman had no answer. She mentioned camming put money into 'their' bank account.
All I got from this was a feeling of sadness on the part of the wife, no resolve to change things and go live a decent life. You might have got a better reception if you had.

If you decide to follow this story where her husband finds out and rubs his nose in it that he needs to deal with it, you will get an equally bad or worse reception. If the husband just asks why camming if she was pissed, her answer could be, 'you have your hobbies, I have mine."

There are 2 other 750 word stories today that also got very poor reviews. One the husband was a slacker so the woman 'paid' the handyman with sex. The same author had the wife just blatantly tell him she was going to try to seduce a man and not only did but showed him.

I read several, a few were good, but others deserved their low ratings. 750 stories are very hard to get right. They generally leave too much wanting. Some miss the mark entirely. It's too bad to put a lot of effort into a story for people to go 'BLAHHHH'.

750 word stories are almost always read through to the end. It takes more effort to tell the author where and why they missed the mark than it. I read several, commented on 2. I did comment here but generally you will find authors doing the same thing over and over again and wondering.

Both your stories were well balanced and put in the appropriate categories. By using the Cinderella story you had no need for the backstory and it made the revenge sweet.

Read it and it gave me a bad taste. The husband is even more of an asshole than in the first.
And there are some disparities. In the wife's version he said he had been kind and devoted in previous relationships. In the second he had learned how to treat a woman from his father's handbook so..... No mention what that handling did for his mother.
Then he watches his wife and doesn't have a clue until she says no to his comments and her semi-redeeming (sincere?) ' I love him'. And he wants to screw on cam? No discussion of changing minds about why his treatment or how it did not work. Not having a kid thing. Still pathetic either way they go and the husband is still an asshole. Might have done better in one of the other categories. You did get close to a 3 for this one.
