Sex & Shenanigans

I totally understand everything you wrote here and I 💯 agree with you.

It’s also why I am always so hesitant to start a new series until I feel like they’ve committed to a lot of seasons.
Thank you for making me feel seen.

I’m the same way to a point. If they can convince me they’ve got confidence in the story, in where it’s going and the tone, and where it’ll end, that’s huge. The number of seasons don’t matter as much (though of course I want more!) as having the story locked in. It’s incredibly easy, and disappointing, to see when there’s a lack of effort there.
Oh yeah …. I love bios that I can’t see at all. They definitely give me all the information I need.

This is probably also why I don’t bother checking them in the first place lol
Facts 😂

I’m opening up and letting my inner child and nerd out here.
I’ve been a fantasy/fiction fan since I understood what it was, including comic book characters and epics like Lord of the Rings. I read LotR once a year, I read Stephen King’s “It” once a year, I’ve been reading R.A. Salvatore’s work, and his longest running series, for over 20 years.
I was hooked on Marvel with Iron Man, and the trilogy of X-Men movies before that. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since before I could read.

What does it for me are great characters. If a book or a show or a movie shows me a character fully fleshed out and gives me a strong sense of place, that’s a good start.
Then, if the story lets me suspend my disbelief and go on this journey of adventure and discovery with these characters, to have it pull me down through the hole between the words or be lost in the story unfolding on the screen and be truly invested in them and their relationships…that’s my happy place.
There’s been characters in novels and films I’ve genuinely wept over because of how their stories resonated with me.

Now (if you’re still with me), the show that’s hit the hardest for me in recent memory is Daredevil. It originated on Netflix in 2015. The tone. the music. The brutality, and the hope.
The characters, especially the villain, absolutely captivate me. And they ended it prematurely, and I went through almost a breakup period where I mourned those characters and their unfinished stories.

And, eight years later, it’s coming back. Same tone, same music, and the same cast.
That’s almost unheard of for a TV show, and I’m so damned excited!

*steps down off pedestal*
