What’s your most controversial opinion?

I start out those conversations with, “I’m not sure how to say this without sounding like an asshole, so…”

It’s weird when people start a sentence “I’ll be honest…”

Does that mean it’s such a rarity that it has to be announced?

I tend to see this in a similar vein as the phrase "no offence, but"...

That it's a heads-up that their honesty is likely to hurt. Just as their words are about to offend. So, it's not that they're not usually honest, but that they normally put more tact into their words.

Or maybe I'm just naive.

It's up there with, "with all due respect". People think that after they say that, they can be as much of an asshole as they want. Then it's, "Hey, I SAID with all due respect!"

Hey, men commenting on women's titty pics on here: do you really think it's a compliment to say that all breasts are perfect in their own way? I know you're just trying to curry favor and cast as wide a net as possible in the hopes that one of the gals will answer one of your PMs, but if all breasts are perfect, that also means they're all average, so...

With all due respect these guys are just trying to get someone to respond. I think they just throw out a “compliment” hoping someone bites.

And there’s the ones who try to sound like a dom/master but somehow sound like they failed the audition for the arch villain in a B movie.

Footnote: there is method in the madness. I used to be on the anonymous confession site Whisper (does that still exist?) and once as an experiment posted something like “It’s hard to find an obedient woman” and got inundated with offers and pics. Unfortunately I just can’t keep up the Lex Luther thing very long.

Medically assisted suicide should be legal for anyone for any reason provided they meet two qualifications:

1. They are at least 18 years old.

2. They are in touch with reality and understand what death is and that death is permanent.

Got long covid? PTSD? Going bald and can't get a date? Think the planet is doomed and just want off early? All valid reasons, here's your suicide pill.

It's perverse that we force people to continue existing when they don't want to.

Peaceful illegal methods are difficult to come by. People shouldn't have to use a painful, unreliable method to end their lives when prescription drugs exist that can do the job painlessly.

I do agree. Whilst I understand the genuine concerns on the subject, I think people have a fear that is disproportionate to the reality of the situation.

Not quite the same thing, and apparently a very regional delicacy, but when I had step-family back in Maryland when I was a teen, scrapple was really popular there. I think it was kind of like spam, but with liver in it? Very odd taste, but sliced and fried crispy in bacon grease, it was pretty good. Definitely an acquired taste, though.
