Pink Orchid 2025: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

Well the event poses no restrictions on this; you could publish it in chapters and only include chapter one. Or include all chapters, or whatever.
A chaptered entry is okay in the event? I just post the event name in the note?

Two done: one pure PO and one with PO and VD together. I am happy with both, which means they'll get slammed by the voters.

Yes. The standalone rule is for the site hosted contests, not events, or at least not this one.
You can actually submit chaptered stories in the site contests, as long as you confirm the story is complete and post the entire thing at once (I went through this with Laurel a couple years ago). Unlikely to do particularly well, but if you're just trying to reach more eyes, it's an option.

I had two Valentine's Day stories that I felt could also fit here, and I just finished and submitted one of them. Whew!

Submitted? But PO submitting window isn’t open yet.

Which makes me realize that in a month it is, and I should really write mine…

Well, I marked it for both PO and Valentine's Day. We'll see what happens.

But, but . . .

The announcement Laurel published 11 hours ago gave the opening date as January 1st.

I might have an entry, regardless of the opening date, if I can convince myself that the readers will be OK with a female protagonist who goes so far into denial that her friends intervene.

The post also made me wonder, isn't this the fourth event rather than the third?

It is the fourth, it seems Laurel copied the last year’s announcement. There also isn’t 29 days in February this year, so please don’t wait until the 29th of February to submit 😁

Just a heads-up, but I submitted mine with both Valentine's Day and Pink Orchid in the notes, and it was approved for publication but not until February. I've edited it and removed Pink Orchid from the notes but added a tag. Waiting to see if it gets placed on the Valentine's Day list now.

Can the submitted piece for Pink Orchid be a new chapter of an existing story with multiple chapters, or must it be a stand-alone story?

Thank you for the clarification. The event versus a contest is new to me, but I like it. Last year's Pink Orchid was a deep roster of talent that I admired and envied... time to get my act together.

Welcome aboard! No need to be intimidated, everybody is welcome who’s willing to make the effort. There can never be too many stories with sensible female representation.

How’s everybody doing? I’m at about 6500 words. Me being a pantser it’s difficult to say if this is halfway or something else, but anyway I have more than one scene now 😁

As you know, O, mine is in the "polishing" stage now at 14.4k words as I make some final adjustments. It may not be exactly what you're looking for in the Pink Orchid. I like to think it may be what my hater audience in Loving Wives should read of a "loving wife" getting her revenge.

But, hey, how many others writing for the Pink Orchid would dare give you one in the Loving Wives category?

I've got a story that i've sort of just finished with two strong female characters in it. Yes its smoking fetish. But they do have rather good fun together.
I am just not sure if its pink enough.

Hmmm
