A few reasons for me.Interesting. Are you able to explain why? I guess they're less likely to leave marks, which maybe a factor, or is it something else? Some people of my experience enjoy marks, though possibly not on "public" areas of the body.
In my not so distant past, I used them for work. So, there's always just been that connection in my brain connecting them to work. On the plus side, it does mean I'm efficient in operating them, ha.
Part of it is marks and comfort as well. It is easier to restrain, and especially "manhandle" (best term I could come up with) someone wearing other kinds of cuffs without causing marks and/or them digging into the skin to the point of causing unwanted/unnecessary pain.
It's also important to have a pair of double locking cuffs and to remember to double lock them when using them, as if you don't its very easy to put enough pressure on them in the heat of things for them to cinch down on the wrist.
I also find leather cuffs to be more flexible in use, as you can attach them to each other to be used like handcuffs, or attach them to a restraint system, straps, other stuff.
Finally, you don't need a key to remove buckle or velcro cuffs like you handcuffs. So, if for some reason you need to remove them quickly, buckle or velcro cuffs are much faster and require less fine motor movement.
