I never took calc (I actually dropped my AP calc class because teacher assigned too much homework and I wanted to smoke weed after school 🤣) but precalc was my favorite.
Homework sucks … though I wish performance for classes wasn’t based on testing … cuz I suck at testing.

I never took calculus in high school and when I tested for my math level when I entered college they put me in the most basic class they had and once I got into it I realized it was too easy.

My prof let me not take the final in exchange for helping students on the final day of class … only like 1 person showed up.

I benefited from the test heavy system because I’m a great test taker (standardized testing days were my favorite 🤣), but I absolutely see the flaws in it.

The calc teacher’s whole schtick was that you read the textbook and teach yourself, do the homework, and then class time is dedicated to going through the homework problems on the board to clarify understanding. I was just not about that life at the time and I knew I was headed to school to be a therapist… so I switched to statistics which I got a 99% in even though I skipped more days than I was there 🤣

Lol … his approach seems dumb.

In university my prof had the best way of teaching in class, assigning homework and then twice a week he’d hold sessions to help with homework and inevitably all the same students would be studying together all the time and would all help each other.

I found the best way to learn was to explain it to someone else

I love that! Discussion and collaboration is definitely how I learn best.

Since it’s Friday the 13th … what is one superstitious thing that you used to believe … or one that you still believe.
When I was a kid I used to think that if 3 bad things didn’t happen to me, my house would burn down or get broken into. I don’t think that’s superstition though so much as it is the early stages of anxiety 🤪

I also slept with a spoon under my pillow for snow days (though I never actually believed it)
