What apocalypse do you people foresee where we lose the capacity to make automatic transmissions but retain the ability to make manual ones? It’s more useless than learning cursive writing for almost everyone.

Until the only vehicle you have available is a standard transmission. Having a skill set and not needing it is always better than needing a skill set and not having it.

And I drive a manual every day, so it wasn't like I went out and procured one to teach my kid.
