Sex & Shenanigans

Almost everyone here over the age of 25 who can drive, can drive a manual.

We also make our kids learn a manual just in case they need it ever.
I grew up on a farm so it was a necessity to learn a 14-gear manual transmission. The shifting tree on that thing was a motherfucker. It's a skill I'm glad to have, but it just isn't necessary in 2025

I have an auto too. But also learned to drive in a manual… 50s ford pickup… no hydraulic clutch… three on the tree… manual brakes…

Looks back and thinks wow that was sooooo safe
I think back on my truck that had MANUAL steering and a stick shift … how in the fuck I managed to drive that fucker is amazing.

It may not often be needed. But it could be necessary.
If you hit the ↩reply button it makes it a lot easier to see these.
It mayyyyyy be necessary today, but with every passing day it gets less and less so. And soon our cars will drive themselves! What a time to be alive

When I was 17 I was at a party out in the boonies with a couple friends. The girl who drove us had a manual car and was going to DD. She ended up getting drunk. Well, we all did. I had to stop my bestie from getting a tattoo from some guy in the basement who was blowing lines of oxy while wearing the gloves he was tattooing in 🙃. The birthday boy got “happy fuckin birthday” tattooed on his ass and had to walk around with his ass cheeks out for the rest of the party 🤣

Anyway, my friend couldn’t drive and I was determined to be the least drunk of us and so she gave me a crash course in driving it. I was not good at it. Thankfully we ended up staying long enough for her to sober up and drive.

TLDR: I wish I had been taught before that

All I can think of is dodgeball.

Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No but it’s sterile and I like the taste.

Made my kid learn how to drive manual. She hated it, until she needed it. My clutch may never recover, but it was worth it.
I learned on a late 1970’s Ford F150, also no power steering or brakes. I’ll find one somewhere to teach my son, but he can drive tractors and fly single engine planes, so I figure he’ll pick it up easily enough.
