What is your ideal sandwich?


I just had another turkey with Brie on sourdough with cranberry sauce and arugula … it might just be what heaven tastes like.

Today? A Reuben with house smoked pastrami, really sour home-made sauerkraut, emmental, fresh Thousand Island spread, and outstanding dark rye. Fresh carved turkey is an optional addition. Grilled.

Tomorrow? Probably a Cuban.

My standard Thanksgiving sandwich.

Turkey, stuffing (not dressing), mashed potatoes, green bean casserole (although this one has broccoli casserole), turkey gravy, on white toast with a little mayo.

Capriotti’s are all over now. I’ve been to various locations in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Diego. When I get The Bobbie, I would always take it home and dip it in gravy, and actually convinced them via Twitter to sell side cups of gravy to dip them in one November, for a limited time. I sooo wish they’d bring it back!

I just learned that the US considers Sunday to be the first day of the week? What, why? Is it not part of the weekend? Weirdos.

Not me, Monday is day 1 and the worst day, they keep getting better until day 6 that is the best day, Saturday, and then is goes to hell on Sunday night.

A hot, freshly baked rye, topped with
Bregott extra salted butter, a layer of
Kalles Kaviar (a breakfast spread made of cod roe and tomato puré),
a dollop of Queen jam (raspberry/blueberry mix)
and a thick slice of Prästost (Cheese of the Priest, very pungent) to seal it all in!

It's the perfect mix of nutty, salty, sweet and pungent!

Theres four sandwiches I really love... Turkey with cranberry sauce and whatever else on really good bread, an everything special combo Bánh mì, really melty and crispy grilled cheese, and the not so fried chicken sandwich from Mendocino farms. Those are my top four in no particular order. You can't make me choose one.

Historically it goes back to the Puritans. They wanted to break off from the Western European tradition of placing more importance on religious holidays (which were damn near weekly), and make the Sabbath (ie Sunday) the primo day (1).
