SUMMERVILLE, South Carolina — Former President Donald Trump arrived in this suburb of Charleston, South Carolina, buoyed by a new Washington Post poll that showed him leading President Joe Biden by 10 points in a hypothetical 2024 rematch. "That's a lot," Trump said of his lead. "It's hard for Republicans to lead by that much in the fake news media."

But the bigger question is: How did Trump get that lead? And if he is not really leading Biden by 10 points and is instead ahead by only a point or two — how did he get that lead? How is Trump, nearly three years out of office and facing four indictments, ahead of the incumbent president?

Here's one answer, after listening to Trump and talking to people who came to see him on a hot, sweaty late September day in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Trump's message is compelling because it is, in essence, the spoken-word version of the feelings about the state of the country expressed in...the Washington Post poll. Other polls, too.

Finally, like many Democrats, some Trump supporters have adopted an apocalyptic view of the 2024 election — that a victory by the other side might well mean the end of the United States. Like the Democratic version, it's a bleak vision, but one Trump encourages. "I tell you, if we don't get back, I really believe this country is finished," Trump told the crowd. A short time later, a woman said to me, "If he doesn't get back in, we're done."

The other factor in Trump's widening support is that in the minds of so many Americans, the Biden administration has flat-out insulted the American people, diminished the political and economic reputation of the United States, and supported policies that threaten the nation's internal security. All of this happening from behind a wall of transparent bullshit from his spokesmen.

pipe down, vetteman.

I definitely agree Trump is the best President the United States has had in my lifetime. Hopefully he's able to get back in and fix a whole bunch of the issues again like he did last time.

Trump succeeded in building a wall…
Around your head.

The major economic prosperity and no new wars started under his watch are the first top two that come to mind.
please detail this major economic prosperity and how exactly he fixed it. not starting a war isn't a fix.

The US economy was booming under Trump. It's now in shambles after just a couple years under the Biden administration.
not starting a war isn't a fix.
When a country has a tendency to keep getting involved in and starting wars to financially benefit the military industrial complex, not doing that is definitely a fix in my books.

oic. so you agree with me that your examples were not him fixing anything. cool cool cool.

Just stop, ok?
The only thing not yet exposed to prove this man is a failure, joke and complete hypocrite is a birth certificate showing he was not actually born in America.

Trump? Trump was born in Jamaica.

These facts are vital because the historical record should be accurate. No matter what one thinks of Trump, we need to learn the right policy lessons of what works and what does not in creating broad prosperity for America. Trump reduced taxes, unleashed the economy, renewed domestic energy production, and overhauled trade deals to place the country first.

Let us examine the success in the first three years of his administration before the coronavirus flattened the economy. The unemployment rate fell less than 4 percent, which was near the lowest in half a century. The inflation rate fell to 1 percent, which was even below the target level set from the Federal Reserve. This has kept the interest rates on mortgages and many other loans down to the lowest level in modern times.

The portion who fell below the poverty line declined to the lowest level ever recorded in 2019. The wealth of households, including their stocks, savings, and real estate, rose to the highest level in history. The Census Bureau saw the median income rise to above $65,000, up by more than $5,000 in three years and double the gains from the last decade.

Good example of the facts getting in the way of the fanatical anti Trump narrative.

WTF
This is an opinion piece talking point that’s been debunked.

https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/USA/united-states/unemployment-rate

Credible economists cite how Obama inherited a 9.25 unemployment, upticking to 9.63 in ‘10 and then steadily, significantly declining to the 3.93 handed over to the dumbass.
No trump policy could or had any impact on the 3.67% that unemployment bottomed out at in the 2nd year of trump.

What you mean to tout as a telling economic indicator is republican presidents and the many jobs they created in comparison to the business dumb democrats.

That’s a much better example of facts getting in the way of narrative.

Also You, tasty, and the author of this puff piece should give an example of a trump employment policy that specifically aided blacks that allows for trumpers to claim that trump helped lower black unemployment.

Yeah…
Crickets.
Any employment policies pushed by the government that target the enthicity of any group, either in a negative or positive way, are racist and should be eliminated immediately.
