No denying that Krupa has chops and was a master showman

But are you hip to Brian Blades? Of course, difficult to do an adequate comparison when so many years between the two, but one of my go-to recommendations to individuals is Joshua Redman's Moodswing.

In addition to Redman, band members included Christian McBridge, Brad Melhdau and Brian Blades.

Clifford Brown was one of the first trumpeters I really got into. Ironically, it was by way of Bud Powell's take on "I Remember Clifford." Such a haunting song...
