I'm curious as to whether or not Il Donald will make Canada his first international visit. Traditionally it is. We're close, peaceful, trade in the billions daily and probably gives the Secret Service a chance to fine tune protection in dealing with a particular president's peculiarities.

I certainly expect Trump to be met with a very large crowd of protestors. Of course we will be asked to be polite and respectful. Would hate to have trade relations hurt by some egotistical megalomaniacs reaction to being booed by foreigners.

Won't be unhappy if he goes to Russia first. Has a POTUS ever visited Russia? Can't see the Secret Service liking that idea much.

HRC received 3 million more votes than Tromp. 10 million more voted against Tromp than for him. As he said all along, the election was rigged; his 'victory' is illegitimate, by his own standards. Power without popular support won't go far.

Considering turnout is usually about 70% not many politicians can say they really won the popular vote. I can understand the need for greater representation in lower populated areas for the sake of national unity. Little PEI gets far more seats in Parliament then it's tiny population says. But this Electoral College almost makes voting just a suggestion. Hardly stopped some inexperienced populous with divisive ideas who fed on fear and lies from winning. Would be interesting if voting was mandatory and the day a holiday to ensure all can make it to polls. With split in votes, those forced to vote may elect Boaty McBoatface candidates.

Never like Republican POTUS. But Reagan and the first Bush I could live with. The 2nd Bush was a fucking moron but Hey no ones perfect. But Trump!

He does give me hope that the US will see the light and rejoin it's Anglosphere cousins. And ditch their weird ass political system and bring in a truly evolved and modern system of Westminster style government. Even elect their own head of state and call them something other than monarch.

He has the Congress and soon the Supreme Court and being the bigger men Democrats aren't even going to bargain. We're going to give Trump his winnings.

I'm assuming you're talking about Canada.
In the US the last election with turnout in the 70% range was McKinley, 73%
Since then it's ranged from a high of 65.7% (Taft) to a low of 49% (Harding).
Typically it's in the 50-60% range. Last year it was 58.6%, same as 2012.

Median turnout in Canada is about 70%. Slide down into 60s for much of 90s and first decade of 2000s. Last one spiked back up to 68.5%. Big interest in getting rid of the Conservatives and Harper.

Wiki quote says "When low turnout reflects cultural values of disenchantment or indifference, the election may not be an accurate reflection of the will of the people. Low turnouts can lead to unequal representation among various parts of the population. In developed countries, non-voters tend to be concentrated in particular demographic and socioeconomic groups, especially the young and the poor."

John A. Macdonald, speaking in 1865 about the proposals for the upcoming confederation of Canada, said:

"By adhering to the monarchical principle we avoid one defect inherent in the Constitution of the United States. By the election of the president by a majority and for a short period, he never is the sovereign and chief of the nation. He is never looked up to by the whole people as the head and front of the nation. He is at best but the successful leader of a party. This defect is all the greater on account of the practice of re-election. During his first term of office he is employed in taking steps to secure his own re-election, and for his party a continuance of power. We avoid this by adhering to the monarchical principle—the sovereign whom you respect and love. I believe that it is of the utmost importance to have that principle recognized so that we shall have a sovereign who is placed above the region of party—to whom all parties look up; who is not elevated by the action of one party nor depressed by the action of another; who is the common head and sovereign of all."

And your head of state is 'not even' elected by a majority! And his voters probably represented a 'certain' type of person. Old white racist males certainly would have had a disproportionate say in who got into power.

All together now "God save our gracious Queen..." :)

Face it Obama was the worst president this country has ever had. He like Clinton in his last year, realizes that he has nothing to show for his eight years but failures and crimes against the people. That he will be lost in history. We will have other real black presidents and also women presidents in the future but there never will be two such low life worthless people as Obama and Hillary Clinton. The American people are tired of corrupt leaders. Many people are sheep and puppets and allow themselves to be brain washed, but the majority are free people who will fight to keep that freedom.

We do not need royalty. We do not need the same professional politicians who get rich off the blood sweat and tears of the American people. That is why we should and it is constitutional that we have term limits and that they do not get retirement pay or benefits after leaving office. They are there to serve and not to get rich. Look at Obama and Clinton families. They are worth millions and yet neither family has ever held a real job.

There is no reason why anyone on this site can not serve and do a better job than those career politicians. If they were any good would they not have kept their first campaign promises and not have to return year after year?

So it is good to finally have someone that is not a career corrupt lying politician, but a business man who will run the government like a business and "fire" anyone who fails to do the job the people put them there to do.

Only those who want the old establishment, the same type of failures as before, want those who give more attention to outside powers that pay them or corrupt business CEO's and so called labor leaders than they do the honest citizen are afraid of Trump. They gave Obama a chance. True he failed but they gave him a chance so now it is Trump's time and from what he has already done since November shows that the people made the right choice.

Hopefully we are finished with a do nothing congress and a supreme court that never heard of the Constitution. That we have department heads that don't spend all their time taking the Fifth, but doing an honest job. It might be nice for a chance. So give it a try.

Hard Rom you put up a good post until the end when you went all racist pig. Take out the last that is meant to turn people against each other the way Obama did in this country and it has a good ring to it.

Hillary Clinton showed her disrespect for the people and even the Democratic party, although she said she wasn't a Democrat but a Soro's Progressive. She lost the election throughout the country except in the States and big cities run run by the party machine. Those are the places where they should have had recounts. Where there were recounts she lost votes. So now she is on this Russian kick, even with her being on their pay roll. Maybe the Russian HR should have a talk with her and Obama about not being good employees.

She lost the election on her own. No one else is to blame. And look at the elections through out the history of the U. S. Our forefathers were great men, but they were in uncharted territory when they wrote our first laws. They could have been, in hind sight by we Monday morning quarterbacks, a little more trusting of the people. This is not the first time an election has been argued one way or the other in favor of popular vote or electoral vote with each party at one time or the other taking each side.

What we need is to ensure an honest election. No more Acorn or corrupt illegal voters. A true i.d. of each voter and a hand count of each ballot and no results released until the last poll has closed. Too many times in the past one side of the country has decided an election before the other side has had a chance to vote. Fairness and common sense and honesty will provide for a chosen leader. No illegals, no dead, no cartoon characters, no lost ballots, no double ballots, no machine failures. A media that only reports facts and not as we have it now. And every person who is on the ballot has equal time before the press and the people so we can have a fair choice. We don't need a corrupt press telling us who we can hear and who we can not. And no candidate can do to the press what Hillary Clinton did, treating them as cattle and actually roping them off so they can't ask questions, nor can the press do what they have done, by being nothing more than acting like old Communist or Nazi propaganda shows.

Then a fair election, by the people and for the people, will show our forebears that the people can be trusted.

"Too many times in the past one side of the country has decided an election before the other side has had a chance to vote."

This has never happened. Hawaii opens their polls when it's 1:00PM on the east coast. No election has ever been called by 1:00PM Eastern Time.

His standards don't matter.

It's not about being bigger men, it's about you're so fucking outnumbered you had better use this time to either figure out a new program or figure out how you're going to win America back on "fuck white people, fuck men and fuck America." .

Because they aren't doing shit for at least 2 years. (D)'s may as well just take a vaycay and get their game back up.
