FACT: the attacks that result in the intended victim scaring off the attacker by the mere presence of a gun is RARELY even mentioned, as it just becomes one of millions of non-events that never happened. But a crime scene makes the news and the 24hour news cycle...

In the long run, statistics are irrelevant to self defense. The right to defend myself is inherent in my being, not dispensed nor stripped by government. It resides in every individual, in every country. It is simply willingly sacrificed to the government by those who fail to understand and cherish true individual freedom.

You haven't SHOWN me any facts or stats that counter my beliefs with the one exception of a researcher whose name only rings a bell with me because I think in previous discussions I've discovered that his work was discredited. What your chart shows is northing more than a pattern of domestic violence, one in which your country would involve kitchen knives or something similar. As I already pointed out, to focus on the gun is to ignore everything else that goes into a violent confrontation/domestic squabble writ large.

Your reliance upon statistics that you pick out over your ability to apply reason to the problem (because it is clearly such an emotional issue to you, it's like talking to the abortion-frist crowd) has been underscored from the very first answer to a very clear question, do you believe in the individual right to self-defense.

Answer: Yes, but ~~ caveats ~~

Most of the caveats, of course, were restrictions on the right to self defense meaning you don't think that it is an absolute individual right but more of a tribal compact, in this case, the compact to give up components of self-defense as a self-defense strategy.

Yea...I'd be pretty scrutinizing of their source as I said, every security, police and military force on the planet says otherwise.

But basically, the guns-as-self-defense argument rests on everyone carrying a gun, and being prepared (and trained) to use it at all times.

It depends on you the individual to carry and be prepared.

Everyone else is really irrelevant.

And if some guys on top of me, holding a gun to me, I don't really see how I'm able to get my hypothetical gun of the bag I'm carrying.
