Lori loaded the last of her groceries into the back of her 2014 Toyota Highlander and closed the back door. She returned the cart and then got in the vehicle and began the short four mile drive home. "Four miles", she thought, "you could reach any point in her small home town within four miles."
Lori pulled out onto the main highway that would lead her home and she took in the beautiful countryside surrounding her. She rolled her window down as it was a sunny day with blue sky and light warm breeze. She pressed a button on the steering wheel that turned on the radio and music began pumping from her speakers. Ironically the song was by Journey "Just A Small Town Girl". Lori listened to the song thinking how the guys in the band certainly had her in mind when they wrote the song. Her life was a good life as she had a loving husband even if he was a bit to centered around work but his job allowed her to stay at home even though they had no children at least not yet. At the age of 30 the time was coming to make a decision to have children or not. Her husband kept telling her he wanted them to be more financially stable and now they were but he still hadn't warmed up to the idea of a child totally. To be honest neither had she though she did need something in her life. Lori needed adventure which she was probably never going to find in this small town life of hers.
She turned off the main highway and into a upper middle class sub division with two story homes, big lots, and nicely manicured lawns. It was the newest neighborhood in town and was the last stop from well no where. If you continued along the main highway you wouldn't find anything for over 50 miles but open fields and wooded areas.
Making one more turn to the right and then one to the left Lori began driving down her street. She lived in the middle of a cul de sac and as she approached she noticed a large moving truck pulled up to the house directly right of her own. The house had been on the market for about two months as the original owners had moved when their daughter had gotten married. The Reynolds had only lived there for about 18 months moving in right after construction had been completed. They had been good neighbors and Lori and her husband often cooked out with them on the weekends. She had been sorry to hear that they were moving as Jennifer though a bit older had been a good friend she was able to trust with her secret desires.
Lorie looked to see if she could see the new owners but all she saw was several guys wearing shirts identifying them as working for the moving company. She pulled into her driveway and started unloading her purchases stealing glances next door. She could just see a man standing at the doorway directing traffic as the movers struggled with a large piece of furniture. This item she couldn't place or figure out what it might be though it was rather large and partially covered by bubble wrap. As she made her second trip to retrieve bags she saw them moving a second pieces she was unable to figure out it's use. It wasn't as large but something about it looked strange exotic. The man still stood in the shadows and she couldn't tell what he looked like though she caught his voice a few times and knew instantly he wasn't from the area.
Lori took the last of the things into the kitchen and began putting them away occasionally looking out of the side window wondering what where the new neighbors wife was. She hoped they were nice and it excited her to meet someone new. She so rarely met new people in this small town so any chance to do so Lori always took it and enjoyed meeting them especially when they were from somewhere else. The chance to learn of living in other places was always interesting as she had lived in this town all of her life. Sure she had traveled with her husband all over including Europe but it wasn't like living in these places.
Glancing at the clock Lori saw she had just over two hours to get things ready for dinner before her husband arrived home from work. That was of course unless he called to say he was staying late. Tom worked in the next town over which was considerably larger than where they lived. It was a little over an hour commute and they had considered moving but in the end they both couldn't bring themselves to leave the town where they had went on their first date with each other as seniors in high school. Sure the other town actually it was a city of about 150,000 probably contained some of the adventure she sought but along with that came things such as crime, heavy traffic and everything that was opposite of small town life. Sure it wasn't like a New York or LA but it still had many of the same problems just not the quantity of them.
Lori began preparing the meal as she made and then sipped on a glass of white wine. Her thoughts drifted back to the people next door as she began to guess why they moved to here. Walking into the her bedroom while her meal baked in the oven she stopped in front of the mirror examining her 5'6 frame and 125 lbs. Her dark hair came down just below her shoulders though today she had it pulled up into a pony tail. She was still in good shape after nearly 12 years from graduation and 4 years of college. She had attended the small community college getting a degree that had never been used. Lori wasn't vain but did care about how she looked and treated her body well eating healthy and staying in shape by running and going to the small gym down the road 4 times a week. She turned side ways examining her ass which she felt was her best part. It was nice and firm and had the curves men loved and wasn't to big nor to small. She certainly filled out a pair jeans in all the right places. She smiled towards the mirror as she thought, "not bad girl not bad", and took one last look. This time her eyes fell on her breasts which at 34C wasn't to big nor to small. They were perky and still where they were supposed to be unlike some of her friends with much larger breasts.
Lori returned to the kitchen checking the food as she heard a door slam and looked out of the window to see the moving truck pulling away from the her new neighbors drive apparently now empty of its cargo. She watched from the window hoping to get a glimpse of the new occupants. There was not a car in the driveway but either the new occupants had left as well or it was parked in the garage. Lori suddenly felt like the old nosy neighbor and pulled herself away from the window and began setting the table.
