Porn: Where has all the eroticism gone?

Porn films in America are notable for their brutalized nature. Gay porn is full of overbulked monsters well and truly "banging."

I and my group are working on a new approach: beautiful people in beautiful places doing beautiful things.

I'm all for it.. good luck

They tried that in the '70s and early '80s when they actually attempted to do porn with good production values.. That got killed by the VCR.. Most of the production stuff nowadays is trash..

I'm aware. My Big Domme is a film/video pro and I know the bookpub side.

It's a gap that needs to be filled much as Lit has filled the need for a classier written porn.

Big Domme is Guild, I was a Guild leader, and whatever we do is union all the way.

I'll meet with a Coppola guy to go over issues of CGI, etc.

Thanks for the input

Yeah I know. To each his/her own and whats erotic to one person can often be vulgar to another and vice versa. What ever gets through the night. (It's alright, it's alright) But please hear me out and I don't mean to sound like an old geezer. It's important to note that I am only speaking of pictures. I will address videos in seperate thread.

For me, the more natural look of the ladies in the 60s and 70s was much more erotic that those of today. Of course there are exceptions but the ladies of the 60s and 70s knew how to pose for the camera. The expressions on their faces was more a mixture of seduction and playfullness with a hint of innocence. It's as if they are trying to seduce you. And they were not surgically enhanced.

There is a phoniness to alot of the pictues I see online, here and elsewhere, that just doesn't do it for me. If I want to get off looking at pictures I will look and the ones from the 60s and 70s and into the 80s. I miss the curves. I miss teh tanl;ines. Today, the models are mostly tatted up ( I absolutely hate tatoos), oiled down, often silicone enhanced ,and posed spreadd eagled to show you their shaved pussy. Not that I have anything against a shaved pussy, but there is certain naturalness of an unshaved but well trimmed one. Modern models do not use playful expressions. The vibe they give off is a simple basic "let's fuck" attitude. It's rare that they are photo shot with soft light. The backgrounds usually stark and barren.

I hope I am not alone in feeling this way. It woudl be a shame if I was.
What happened is the porn producers followed the cardinal rule of marketing - Make the product different in some way and it will sell. Making the product different meant changing from "normal" looking actors and actresses and realistic plots to actors and actresses that were far from normal and enhanced if they already weren't and plots that were barely there. If actual sex isn't enough, make it sex in fifteen different positions and have the action go from slow fucking to ramming at the speed of sound. Instead of moans, make the character scream about what's happening. When that isn't enough, introduce the customers to oral sex, then anal, then ???

At least the porn of the 60's and 70's had some artistic value. Porn today is just an exaggerated exaggeration of somebody's fantasy.

The only porn I find to be remotely appealing is true "amateur" porn, meaning ordinary people doing what they do. I don't like shaved women and I always ask my self what a woman with a full sleeve tattoo down each arm is going to tell her grandchildren, assuming she has kids some day.

U hit it on the head...as well as raising the topic of my BIGGEST pet peeve about porn..the obvious fake obnoxious overacting..omg it's so bad I usually turn the volume all the way down or it's just useless

I desire to locate porn within a tradition that begins here:

And continues here

To conclude here:

This is very useful. Thank you. Having grown up in the sex industry, and having worked in and out of movies, as well as sex publishing, I say:

There is an essential dysfunction about sex in America. It is reflected in the porn industry and in sex work and reflects a choking, suffocating Puritanism. I lived in Amsterdam. Even NY/LA/SF/Miami are not Amsterdam.

Porn became corporate.
Yes, but ramshackle. In Puritan Murka the only investment in porn comes from gangsters. Lumpen corporate.

We need a porn industry that produces beautiful movies of beautiful people doing beautiful things. And ugly people doing beautiful things

These with more boobies, cock, and both pussies, front and back.

This was the only film made with Marianne Faithfull, the g.f. of Mick Jagger:

I have a work connection with that film.

I would like to see a classy Hos' Film Festival in San Francisco.

Attached is a publicity pic done of me by a graphic designer working for Madonna. My posted pix came out while I was working on an expanded rerelease of a porn art video. The constant aggression of the Rory/Filth axis made me defensive and I stipulated blafuckingbla that they were 10% photoshopped but not catfish.

I will no longer do this. The software my new company uses is our business. Nobody else's.
If they call catfish on me, fine. Let them go to the Wharf for a meal. North Beach Fish, all night. No appointment needed.

I like my boobies and my booty squeezed.

I did like the movie The Submission of Emma Marx (2013), with Ritchie Calhoun and Penny Pax.

But mostly, when watching porn, I just create the erotica in my head.
My biggest problem nowadays though is the huge amount of ink. I don't get aroused by tattoos.

(American porn bad) It is reflected in the porn industry and in sex work and reflects a choking, suffocating Puritanism.
Is this in fact true? If it were, I would expect to see other porn--Japanese, German, French to be markedly different. I don't see that at all. While admittedly my access to European porn is limited, I do not see much difference in Marc Dorcel or Woodman porn as compared to American porn.

Europorn is like this:
Wouldn't exist without American influence.

I am working on an explicit remake of this, with Quentin Tarantino as potential director:

My problem with most porn is that no one really looks like they are actually enjoying themselves. Turn down the volume of women sounding like dying goats and you have people that are just going through motions. I swear, you can almost time position changes! Where’s the passion? If you’re going to suck a tit, suck the fucking tit with passion! Don’t just give it a token lick like it’s coated in vinegar (lesbians too!). If you’re going to suck a dick, suck it like you enjoy it and are actually trying to make the guy enjoy it too, not just open your mouth and see how far he gets! Make out with that pussy! Don’t stick to one little spot and let the camera zoom in. Geez! Do it like you’re enjoying it and passionate about it, not just like you’re getting paid (yes, we know you’re getting paid and we know you can’t act). When you fuck, use your hips and fuck each other like it’s your last fuck. Not a mechanical “oh baby”, “oh baby” , how-long-do-we-have-to-fake-this, scene. We can tell the difference and that’s why many of us like amateur better. The women of the 60s and 70s looked like they wanted to fuck you and made you want to fuck them by the way they fucked on screen. The porn greats loved fucking and it showed.

So many people have so much ink now because they want to look like savages and barbarians. They are on the bleeding edge of civilization decaying into barbarism, especially pornstars with experiences of abuse and drug addiction. There is also the common belief that self-expression is always great, artistic, beautiful, etc., not a boring description of a boring life.

I’m so glad you have us all figured out! What is decaying up your ass that has made your thinking so toxic about what someone else prefers to do with their own body? Change the channel, geez!

I have nostalgia for porn from the old days......Seka, Kay Parker, Vanessa Del Rio, Miss Sharon Mitchell....so many others.
In recent years I've watched a lot more European porn. It seems Europeans are not so self conscious about their sexuality and their kinks....
AlexD of Germany; excellent art BDSM
fetish porn......I worship Miss Eve........
Tanya Hyde films also have lots of great costumes and sets....and nasty actors and fun kinky scenarios.
Well produced....excellent with cannabis.....smoke a little...stroke.....enjoy the erotic pageantry..........

I agree 100%. That's why I prefer amatuer porn with real couples. There is something cheesy about the professionally produced porn videos and pictures. For me, I could not care less if the woman is slightly overweight or has grey (ing) hair or sagging whatever. At my age (65) those are the type of women I will be having sex with and I'll be enjoying every minute of it.

I also agree that the women of the 60s and 70s knew how to pose for the camera. For me, there is no sensuality in the porn made over the past 25-30 years. I can't get excited (hard) looking at the chemically enhanced glossy look of the younger models. Then again, it may be because I am not attracted to women who are my daughters' age. I am attracted to women 10 years either side of my age. Of course there are always exceptions. Nver say never and all that stuff.

Look, I don't like ink either but you may be going overboard just a tad.

Dancing while fucking could be the next porn innovation. Pornstars could start doing any sort of body movement besides in and out.

Kudos for the Lennon reference.

I agree. Sometimes what make it attractive is the imagination and the fantasy of it and when it's all right out in the open, it takes something away. I think that's what classic burlesque did - it was erotic because you were trying to catch a glimpse while they're moving about

There is a difference between vulgar and erotic but damn if I could verbalize it. To quote Justice Stewart, "I know it when I see it"

There’s a site called Fellucia Blow which features beautifully dressed and made up women giving mostly CFNM blow jobs. It is very sensual and slow rather than the usual desperate fast paced ones you see in standard porn.

I’d like to see more sensuality and fun even in kink porn rather than people getting used and abused.
