These dogs are bred to run and love it. Most mushers treat their pups better than they treat other humans.

Today's sled dogs are very different from the dogs that ran in the the serum run. Those were work dogs, not necessarily fast, but damn strong. And dog drivers then were not necessarily kind to their dogs with exception of the leaders.
