Life in DeSatinistLand Sucks

It’s basically a tale of 2 Ron’s.
In the controlled setting of his organized press conferences, he’s free to bully schoolchildren wearing masks or escort out a black person criticizing him.
At a debate, he’s a neutered cat.
In a park in Jacksonville, facing constituents he never imagined he would face - the man who wants to lead this nation looks over his shoulder for the black female councilwoman to come calm the angry crowd. Did I say neutered cat?
I meant to say, what a puss…

I'm amazed that DeSantis has any ambitions to be president considering the way that he acts. He's a very small-time thinker.

The DeSantis conservative overhaul of New College in Florida is going poorly.

The ratings of other Florida universities are also falling.

A high speed rail line should be basically closed to anything a typical train could encounter.

I’m sure fake news… Ronnie refuses to even consider it was something wrong with the design. That person was sent there by the VP!

desantis loses lawsuit for hiding covid data: the state stopped publishing covid stats, claiming they didn't have the records (a lie) at the direction of desantis.
now ordered to pay $152,500 in legal fees to opposing attorneys and to resume publication.

The state must now post daily covid data again, including number of cases, vaccinations, and deaths.

Former State Representative Carlos Guillermo Smith, who first filed the lawsuit, told WSEH news in Orlando that the state "lied to the Judge in court that they didn't have these Covid-19 records and that was the reason they weren't producing them. They know they were wrong. They know they broke the law, and our lawsuit caught them red-handed."

The data was withheld during the worst of the Delta variant outbreak, at the same time that schools were attempting to use the data to make reopening and mitigation determinations.

Desantis was asked about his pledge to deport every migrant as president and how it would work. He said that his new program would mirror President Dwight Eisenhower's 'Operation Wetback' in the 1950s.

Operation Wetback was the largest mass deportation program in US history. 1.3 million people of mostly Mexican descent were deported under the program with a racist name.
The program used military tactics to round up people throughout the US who were then put into boats, buses and planes, and dropped off into random places throughout Mexico.
they don't even attempt to hide their racism any more...it's right out there in the open and is there to appeal directly to the rabid base

Good to see DeSantis is concentrating on Florida again - he sure as hell isn't going to be President. :)

Florida’s COVID Crisis Escalates: Hospitals Overwhelmed as DeSantis Admin Grapples With Soaring Cases

Florida has emerged as the nation’s leader in COVID-related hospitalizations, and Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration is facing mounting controversy over its stance on COVID-19 booster shots. At a time when the state grapples with a surge in hospital admissions, the decision by DeSantis’ hand-picked surgeon general, Joseph Ladapo, to discourage those under 65 from receiving mRNA boosters has drawn sharp criticism from the medical community.

A Florida county commissioner ousted by governor and 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, was exonerated Thursday after being sentenced to three years of probation and community service, and serving 75 days in jail, The Intercept reports.

The Sumter County commissioner, along with "fellow commissioner, Gary Search, who was similarly prosecuted," but took a plea deal, The Intercept reports, "ran for office pledging to roll back a property tax increase that had been foisted on residents to fund future development in The Villages. They argued that if the developer, which also owned the local newspaper and radio station, wanted to expand the size of the retirement community, they should do so with their own money."

A panel of judges pointed out "the absurdity" of Miller's charge, and furthermore, The Intercept notes, "The case is shot through with ironies, principally that the prosecutors used an anti-corruption law to prosecute a commissioner who was challenging corruption. In a further irony, the prosecution made obviously false statements while accusing Miller of perjury."

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court on Thursday denied a request by Florida officials to let the state enforce a law that placing prohibitions on drag shows.

A federal district court sided with the bar and restaurant, ruling that the law likely violated the First Amendment. By the time the case reached the Supreme Court, the question was more technical: Whether the lower courts had erred by barring enforcement of the new statewide rather than just the restaurant that sued.

florida economy taking a hit due to desantis' policies

so far, 14 conventions that were 'originally planned for Florida have been relocated to other locations', with 4 pulling out in august alone, which has a knock-on effect to hotels and other service-type industries, local stores and those of surrounding areas, meaning money lost all round when companies are still recovering from the impacts of covid.

here's just a snapshot of some of the companies and their concerns that have led to cancelling plans for conventions in florida:

founder and CEO of the National Sales Network Conference:
“Moving forward, we will not consider conducting any future conferences in the state of Florida given the Governor’s statement that slavery was good for Black people.”

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology:
“At the moment, we aren’t able to consider any Florida cities because of the political issues around women’s health and the added challenges with higher education there.”

The Parent Miracles Foundation (had planned an event in November):
"in direct response to Governor Ron DeSantis’ attempts to erase Black history, and to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in Florida schools,” the organization opted to relocate the event to Texas.

The Tom Joyner Foundation announced they'd no longer be hosting their conventions there, and:
expressed concern about the safety of African-American, Latino, and LGBTQ students who would be attending the event.

They also raised objections to Florida’s recent permitless gun carry laws

DeSantis doesn’t see those swastikas either does he?

@BabyBoomer50s

He’s still your guy too isn’t he? The flags fly and the comments go unchallenged. Good thing he had his Governor election before this broke- big Jewish pop in the sunshine state.

He is almost the same height as Adolf isn’t he? Adolf was 5’9 and the Florida strong man claims he is 5’11 (riiiight, in heels)
The governor who deactivated the pro-Palestinian group Students for Justice in Palestine isn’t following and commenting on Elon Musk’s posts on X? Gee, that’s terrible.
