Joe Lieberman dies at 82

He single-handedly torpedoed public option in Obamacare, causing tens of thousands of older-but-not-retired folks pain and early death.

He was Manchin-like in placing profits over people.

I am glad he is gone.
^^^^^^^^
Ty RDS for saying why babyboobs and Manchin ❤️ loves Lieberman! Lieberman, used the threadtof a filibuster, which mansion loves, to undermine Americas wish for universal healthcare. That nod by Lieberman to corporate dollars is enough for Republicans and babyboobs to forgive Lieberman for being a climate advocate and Gore’s vp.

Verbiage to use in subsequent responses to BB50s posts elsewhere: 'memba that time you said Joe Lieberman was the "favorite Dem of quite a few Democrats", but your sorry ass couldn't cite one? 🤣

Manchin sabotages Green energy programs to benefit WV coal companies. Profits before people.
Lieberman sabotaged Public Option to benefit CT insurance companies (Hartford, mostly). Profits before people.

Fuck them both.

Al Gore liked Lieberman enough to name him his Vice Presidential candidate, but I can't think of many others.

Joe Lieberman’s Last Words on Israel

A warning to Biden that he risks losing the votes of Jewish Democrats like us.

By Alan M. Dershowitz
March 28, 2024 at 1:00 pm ET

Hours before his fatal fall on Tuesday, former Sen. Joseph Lieberman put his final touches on a statement we were writing together about Israel, the 2024 election and the future of the Democratic Party.

The statement was a warning to the Biden campaign that it can no longer count on pro-Israel Jewish voters to vote Democratic if it turns against Israel. Here is the statement, as edited by Joe at 2:35 p.m. the day before he died:

“We all want to see support for Israel in the U.S. remain bipartisan which is why we appreciated President Biden’s statements in the wake of the October 7 Hamas barbarisms. We believe that Israel must be allowed to achieve its legitimate goal of disabling Hamas from keeping its promise of repeating the massacres of October 7th.

“More recently however we have become concerned about what appears to be a weakening of support for Israel by President Biden, Vice President Harris and some other leading Democrats. We are especially concerned about the possibility that some of this weakening may be influenced by domestic political fears of losing electoral support from anti-Israel voters who have threatened to stay home unless the Biden administration pulls away from Israel. There appears to be too little concern about losing the support of pro-Israel voters.

“We are here to say that you can no longer simply count on our vote just because Jews traditionally have voted Democratic. We are here to say you must earn our vote. We want to continue to support Democratic candidates, but you need to know that if you abandon Israel in order to garner the support of anti-Israel extremists within the Democratic Party, it will be difficult for us to support Democrats who are on the ballot this November. Pro-Israel voters have alternatives to simply staying home. None of us can or will vote for any candidate who supports cutting military support for Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas. So please, do the right thing. Do not abandon Israel and its time of great need. And we will not abandon you.”

The statement was intended to be circulated among prominent pro-Israel Democrats and sent to the White House in a public release. Its goal was to make it clear that if domestic political considerations—the so-called two state solution, meaning Michigan and Minnesota—were influencing the administration’s change of attitude toward Israel, there would be a domestic political price to pay for such a change.

Joe’s tragic death won’t end his campaign to keep support for Israel a bipartisan issue. Joe believed in this to the depths of his being. And those of us who were working with him to send this message will continue this campaign in his memory.

Joe Lieberman was good friends with Alan Dershowitz???

THIS Alan Dershowitz???:

https://www.vox.com/identities/2019...showitz-jeffrey-epstein-sarah-ransome-giuffre

If Joe Lieberman was good friends with THAT Alan Dershowitz, then I, as an ACTUAL Democrat, now have even more contempt for Joe Lieberman than I had before.

👎

Side note:

Joe Lieberman was NEVER even close to being a “favorite Dem” of this ACTUAL Democrat.

The desperation in every post BB50s is making in here, in a failed attempt to redeem himself...gotta love it. 🍿
Although the sweat of his desperation is rank, I'm actually surprised these non-answer posts were all he could scrape up.

He put in more effort to post about Biden's supposedly unwanted grandchild than this. :ROFLMAO:

Wasn't this the dumb fuck who thought that playing violent video games made kids violent in the mid 1990s?

The moral arc of history bends toward justice one funeral at a time.

Al Gore was dumb enough to chose Joe Lieberman as his running mate in 2000, one of many things that cost Gore that election. People obsess over Florida a bit too much when it comes to that election.

Zionism is utterly evil and a stain on American politics.

Nope. Sorry. Lieberman, at the time, was a respected democrat and made history as the first politician of Jewish faith to be considered for such high an office. STOP with the racist, antisemitic rhetoric - you're better than that. Your post here is looking at this in terms of the Joe Lieberman that existed in 2024. And finally, Florida dealt with practically EVERYTHING concerning the 2000 election.

His religion is irrelevant. Joe Lieberman as Al Gore's running mate alienated potential Democratic voters, along with Gore's environmentalism push that alienated West Virginia's coalminers at a time when West Virginia had voted for the Democratic nominee to be president all but 3 times from 1932-1996 (the 3 exceptions being 1956, 1972 and 1984). Gore lost West Virginia in 2000 and it has since become, in the Trump era, one of the most Republican states in the nation. Gore also lost New Hampshire when he had been favorite to win it, a state that had voted for Clinton in 1992 and 1996, and which has voted Democratic from 2004 to 2020. Had Gore won West Virginia, or New Hampshire (just one of them), it would have been enough to take Gore over the winning line and for Florida not to matter at all.

This all goes over the heads of the corporate Democrats though. They blame Ralph Nader and Nader voters. They always blame left-wingers who don't fall for the DNC's BS.

And finally, Florida dealt with practically EVERYTHING concerning the 2000 election.
Because Gore lost West Virginia and New Hampshire, and also lost big in the southern states, including in his home state of Tennessee. Gore was the first presidential nominee from the big two parties to lose his home state since George McGovern lost South Dakota in 1972.

Why is it that Democrats never look inwards to themselves, and never seriously ask what they could have done better? They always blame the left who saw through the BS, or they say "look over there, it's Russia!" as Hillary Clinton did in 2016.

Well, he was one of those dumb fucks, yes.
