Immortal Love

She woke with the warmth and glanced around. Seeing him she smiled and sitting up she pulled her blanket around her and waited to warm up more. This strange cold place was almost peaceful or so it seemed for now though the cold she feared she would never get used to.

He noticed her waking up, but he kept staring at the fire,

"In time we will have to leave this place, we will not age and that might have the people hunting us, it is better to prevent that."

He grinned,

"It is bad for business."

He pulled the flute from one of his bags, putting it to his lips he started to play a low melody, it was measured and the tempo varied very little. It seemed very rigid and in a sense powerful and strong. When he finished playing he motioned towards the table,

"Breakfast is served."

She smiled to him and then glancing at the food. Well then lets go eat. She thought on his other words and could barely imagine them not aging but it was the reality of the matter so no sense worrying about it. She moved to her pack and taking out a brush she sat there brushing out her hair still thinking about his words about not aging and moving.

((Debating if we should jump them ahead again by a few months or years.))

He entered Samira's room and placed his tankard on her dressing table, he had drunk a lot, but it seemed that he could not get drunk. It seemed almost as if he ignored her state of dress as he stroked over the body of the guitar he held. The past ten years had been good to them. The only thing he lacked was constant female companionship, oh he had had spend a few nights with a few of the girls from the ever expanding town, but it left him totally unsatisfied in all ways.

"You remember when I told you that some time we will have to leave? That time have arrived. The people are talking among themselves about we have not aged a single day ever since we came here. We can leave tonight, the sleigh coach is basically ready and our savings should get us a new home in another country."

He stopped to rub his jaw,

"You look good tonight Samira."

She sighed... more drinking. It was becoming far too common place wince he realized he could not get drunk. Between that and the seeking comfort with the local village girls. Even more change in him. Closing her eyes for a moment she listened.

Yes we should be traveling on. Perhaps some place along the sea. Where was that couple from... Italy... Greece... somewhere around there? Perhaps we should try there next.

She glanced over to him hearing him say that she looked good and smiled softly to him.

Thank you I was quite surprised to find I could get the materials I needed to make more costumes for dancing.

Standing she moved to push him from the room.

I will be ready to leave in about an hour.

Her eyes watching his as she slowly backed him to the door.

He was surprised to feel the heat from her hands through his clothing, it was more than what he felt with the local girls. Strange. Still backing up, he raised a hand and stroked over her cheek with the same tender love that he stroked his instruments when he played.

"I will return to help you carry what you need."

He smiled even after she had closed the door in his face, how could it be that he could feel her? Could she be his love? The one to make him feel again? He frowned and walked away. Within the hour he was back at her door, his baggage have been stowed away on the coach. He knocked softly on the door,

"Samira? It is time."

She opened the door completely packed ready to go. Once more bundled up for travel in this cold. She watched him still puzzled that he had touched her cheek like that but dismissing it as little more than the alcohol or lack of village girl around his arm she nodded and began to carefully move one of her bags from the room motioning him to the other one.

Yes lets go.

He picked up the luggage and carried it outside, packing it away securely he held his hand for Samira and helped her into the coach. Closing the door, he went back inside, made sure all he needed, made sure that no valuables was left behind. He closed the doors and got into the driver's seat. They would have to sell the coach when they came to lesser snowed areas, but for now they had to get moving, he cracked the ship above the heads of the horses and they were off.

She sat back in the coach staring out the window watching the night sky and the quickly fading village her eyes closing as she lightly napped occasionally and just enjoyed the ride... She was concerned about the way he had been in Moscow and hoped it would be different wherever they went next.

After switching to a carriage, their journey picked up speed. Borders were now better patrolled and they had to stop various times to declare who they were and where they went. He found it bothersome, but did not really worry about it. He was out in the open again, the evenings he spent more and nore time with Samira, telling her funny tales of his soldiering days and from his travels. He entertained her with music and was secretly happy that she seemed to enjoy it. It was a long journey and in that time they grew a bit closer together and it was then that they reached Italy. He pulled the horses in at a distance from the sizeable city of Rome

"Well there it is, the fabled city of Rome."

She looked out of the carriage and smiled glancing out over the city that lay before them.

Its beautiful. They will understand the tales that my dancing tell better here.

Deacon Frost

"I believe that you will be correct."

He gave her a grin over his shoulder and nudged the carriage forward. It did not take long for them to reach the city. Directed to the correct administration buildings, Deacon purchased a sizeable amount of ground for them outside of the city and also a well placed and overly priced property in the business centre. He gave Samira a small smile,

"Farming ground, I am sure it will come in handy in the future."

Pretty soon they were at the lot they had bought, he looked at the building with a critical eye,

"Not only did they over price it, we will have to rebuild it."

I am sure we will be able to find people to help rebuild it.

She walked around warily studying it. Thinking on how it could look and smiling softly.

Deacon Frost

"True, but first we will have to plan how we want it to look when we are done, then building material and labor."

He chuckled,

"Not that we are strapped for cash now are we? Told you that your dancing is worth gold and you proved me right."

He gave her a soft smile.

She smiled glad to be in a much warmer climate. Yes and here I can dance more without freezing and having to dismiss so many requests to help keep me warm.

She had never once especially after her ordeal before let any patron get too close. She would endure her curse and traveling with him and doing what she loved and at times felt like all she had left... her dancing.

Deacon Frost

"And work on our tans, ten years in the Frozen Land had turned me almost as white as the snow that falls there and Samira my dear, you have paled as well, at least even that can not pale your beauty."

He bowed with a flourish and smiled at her

"Come, let us find a place to dine and plan."

She smiled to him... again a bout of this strange behavior from him... they come and go so perhaps it was the warmth and the sun affecting him this time. Walking along she carefully glanced around seeing some of the clothing and styles around them she finally spoke.

And perhaps find clothing to blend in a little more in this climate.

Pointing out a little shop.

What about there they don't seem too busy so we can find a place to relax for a bit and plan.

Deacon Frost

"It seems like a good choice."

He escorted her inside and picked a place which gave them a view, he ordered one of the better wines and leaned forward, looking at Samira. It was strange that the whole trip he had no need for any company, but her's.

"So what would your plan be?"

The open air areas like this are nice when attached to such a relaxed place like this. I do not know exactly what I want

She glanced around smiling slightly twirling her hair thinking more about what they should do with the building.

Deacon Frost

"Well it being a warmer place we will need a bigger room for entertainment, bigger windows and if we do that we will have to add our living quarters on a second floor."

The wine arrived and he poured them both a glass and set the bottle between them.

"You have changed Samira, a change that I am glad for. You are no longer the timid woman I met at Salim's"

Seems we both see changes in the other that they do not seem to see. You actually act like you care more.

She sipped the wine glancing around thinking more.

The property seemed tall enough for there to be a second or even a third floor.

Deacon Frost

He did not touch the wine as it stood at his elbow,

"Indeed? Well then interesting isn't it?"

Another puzzle, he sighed softly and turned his attention to Samira's words and nodded,

"True, a third storey would stand out, but what would we do with a third storey? One for you and one for me?"

He grinned widely at her

However it ends up working out for us.

She glanced around and thoughts began to turn to music for her dancing and what to look for here to add to her costumes.

Deacon Frost

"Have any ideas on decor? We could perhaps try to decorate it the same style as your clothing, take the customers on a trip to a place they have never seen."

He refilled her glass for her when it was empty and as an after thought took a sip from his own cup.

"You still have the banking book I gave you?"

Yes... Like the home we lost... The world in which we met...

She smiled sipping her wine a smile on her face and that long lost sparkle to her eyes as she watched him
