Here are two story ideas with fraternal twins as main characters.
Story one has four characters. For ease of description, I’ll refer to them as Mother, Daughter, Son and Aunt. Son and Daughter are fraternal twins and very close. Aunt pops in for a visit a few times every year, usually with no warning, and always needing something - sometimes she needs some money, sometimes she needs a place to crash for a few days. Each time she shows up, Mother berates her for “wasting her life away” and being irresponsible. But even though Mother doesn’t approve of her sister’s lifestyle choices, she loves her, and is never able to refuse her.
The day of the twins graduation from high school, Aunt shows up on the doorstep, dressed far too provocatively for Mother’s tastes. When Mother asks why she showed up on that day, Aunt insists that she’s there to celebrate the kids graduation day, and nothing else; but later on, after the ceremony is over, Aunt confesses that she needs a place to stay for a few months.
That is the set up, the rest is up to the author. In my version, Mother has been hiding things from her kids - Like the fact that she was once more wild than even her sister, and it was actually during an alcohol fueled orgy that she got pregnant and never found out the identity of the father. Mother quit drinking after finding out she was pregnant; and after being shamed for her lascivious actions, she changed her whole lifestyle and became the woman she is today. A part of her misses her wild days, and she has always looked at her sister with jealous longing, wishing she could be free of societal bonds also. Wishing she could go back to her old life, but never regretting having her kids.
Since Mother has always been the strict disciplinarian, and Aunt has always been relaxed and carefree, the kids have grown a special kind of bond with her, even though they only see her a few times each year. They wish she would stick around more often, but she’s always running away to hitchhike across America, or hike the Appalachian trail, or some other exciting endeavor.
After the graduation, Aunty says, “Let’s all celebrate.” and pulls out a bag of weed. Mother objects out of habit, but eventually decides that no harm can come from it, so they all light up. Before long, the kids are asking to hear about Aunt’s adventures, and as they all get more and more stoned, the salacious truth about Mother’s past begins to emerge. At first, the twins cannot believe that their mother used to be wild like their aunt, but as the stories of wild parties and drunken debauchery keep coming, they begin to look at their mother in a whole new light. Son also begins to look at his aunt in a whole new light, and she quickly picks up on his attraction.
Aunt begins to tease Son over the next few days and things between them escalate rapidly. Before the week is over, Aunt is sneaking into his room in the middle of the night for some carnal lust. It isn’t long before Daughter becomes suspicious of her brother and aunt. The first time she spies them being wholly inappropriate with each other, she’s disgusted by it. When confronted by her brother about why she is so unhappy on their birthday, she tells him that she is sad that she won’t ever be able to have a boyfriend, to touch a man’s body, to have a first kiss, to make love. She tells Brother that she’s been seeing other couples on TV and movies, and outside the window, and it makes her sad. Brother says that he’s been thinking about the same thing for a long time, and he’s come up with the only reasonable solution. He then leans in and kisses her tenderly on the lips. Sister is shocked, not only by Brother’s kiss, but by the feeling she gets inside.
Brother tells Sister that he’s always loved her, and he can see no reason why they shouldn’t live together forever. At first, Sister is somewhat disturbed by the thought, and she quickly rejects her brother’s advances on the grounds that incest is wrong, but much later on, when she is all alone and horny, she can’t stop thinking about the kiss, and how good it felt. She starts having dreams when she’s sleeping, and daydreaming when awake, and finally she gives in to her desires and kisses her brother back one night. They fall in love and start having a sexual relationship right under their mother’s nose. It’s only a matter of time until she catches them.

Their father/uncle was a heroin addict who was living on the street. One day, he came to the house looking for money to steal, and Mother was home alone and had just come out of the shower. She tried to stop him from stealing, and he pushed her down, and raped her on the floor in the hallway. Mother explains that he seemed like he was in a trance and didn’t recognize her while he was raping her. When he finished, and came inside her, he snapped out of his trance and was horrified by what he had done. She tells the kids that she couldn’t bring herself to tell her parents what happened, because after the rape, her brother went outside and committed suicide with his father’s gun on the front lawn.
It was months later when she realized she was pregnant, and she was too scared and embarrassed to tell anyone who the father was, so she told everyone that she had had sex with a kid from another town after a football game, and she didn’t know his name. Everyone believed her, even though besides being raped by her brother, she was a virgin. She explained how everyone was still in mourning over his death, and how she felt a lot of guilt because if she hadn’t been home in the shower, he wouldn’t have raped her and he probably wouldn’t have killed himself.

I think that Mother is the ultimate tragic character, because she has held this terrible secret for so many years, and has blamed herself for so much. She also has forgone any kind of relationship with a man for 18 years because of the kids condition. When they hear about what she has sacrificed, they decide that she shouldn’t be left out, and they both begin to seduce their mother to join their incestuous relationship.
