Shaking with Miss Smith:

Twenty one drums and an old bass horn
And somebody beating on a ding dong

Come on over baby
Whole lotta shaking going on
Come on over baby
Baby you can't go wrong
Ain't nobody faking
Whole lotta shaking going on

Come on over baby
Whole lotta kicking in the barn
Come on over baby
We got the bull by the horn
Everything is kicking
Whole lotta shaking going on

Baking it and making it shake
Door and the floor and the gate
Baking it and making it shake
Cake and pie on the plate
Shaking, we shaking, we shaking the plate
Shaking it just for the taste

Come on over baby come on
We done found that ding dong

Love and thanks Miss Smith. You were a fist-shaking, big mama with a big, flame-thrower voice. Your original 1955 version of the rhythm and blues song, "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" never received the national and international recognition it deserved but it inspired a wild, young man to record the song two years later in 1957 and he turned it into a classic rock and roll, worldwide, smash hit. Rest in Peace :rose::rose::rose:

All you gotta do honey is kinda stand in one spot
Wiggle around just a little bit

Goodness Gracious Mister Jerry Lee is a Ball of Fire - Tribute 2:

You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain
Too much love drives a man insane
You broke my will
But what a thrill
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire

I laughed at love 'cause I thought it was funny
You came along and moved me honey
I've changed my mind
This love is fine
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire

W-e-e-e-e-ll, kiss me, baby
Mmmmmh, feels good
Hold me, baby
Well, I want to love you like a lover should
You're fine, so kind
Got to tell this world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine

I chew my nails and I twiddle my thumbs
Real nervous but it sure is fun
Come on, baby
You drive me crazy
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire

Mister Jerry Lee calls it Loving Up A Storm - Tribute 3:

When our kisses fly like oak leaves
Caught in a gust of wind
My heart beats fast as a clickity-clack
Like a train goin' round a bend

I call that loving up a storm
I said that's loving up a storm
Well, it's good for you honey
It won't do you no harm

When-a we get with it darlin'
All I can hear is a sigh
Something touches you deep in your heart
Like it's lightin' from the sky

I call that lovin' up a storm
Ohhhhh, lovin' up a storm
Well, it's good for you baby
It won't do you no harm (ohhhhh)

When we're embracing darlin'
I get wild as a hurricane
And when we kiss, great balls of fire
Ice water's runnin' through my vein

I call that lovin' up a storm
Ohhhhh, lovin' up a storm
Well, it's good for you baby
It won't do you no harm

Mister Jerry Lee was a Fool for Love - Tribute 4:

Everybody tells me love is blind
Maybe so 'cause I refuse to see
Everybody tells me things you do
But I don't care 'cause I'm a fool for you

It doesn't really matter what you are
It only matters what you are to me
Maybe I'm not wise enough to see
But where would love be without fools like me

Maybe lovin' you is not so smart
'Cause maybe in the end you'll break my heart
I really shouldn't love you but I do
And I can't stop 'cause I'm a fool for you

I only hope this time your love is real
'Cause I can never change the way I feel
Maybe, maybe I'm not wise enough to see
But where would love be without fools like me

Love leaves Mister Jerry Lee Breathless - Tribute 5:

Now, if you love me
Let's please don't tease
If I can hold you
Then let me squeeze
My heart goes 'round and 'round
My love comes a-tumblin' down
You, leave me, ahhhhh breathless-ah

Well, I shake all over
And you know why
I'm sure it's love, honey
And that's no lie
'Cause when you call my name
You know I burn like a wooden flame
You, leave me, ahhhhh breathless

Oh, come on, baby
Now, don't be shy
This love was meant for you and I
Wind, rain, sleet or snow
I'm gonna be wherever you go
You, have left me, ahhhhh breathless-ah (oh, keep goin')

W-e-e-e-e-e-ll, oooooh, baby! Mmmmmh, crazy!
You're much too much
I can't love you enough
Well, it's all right to hold me tight
But when you love me
Love me right

W-e-e-e-e-e-ll, come on, baby
Now, don't be shy
Love was meant for you and I
Wind, rain, sleet or snow
I'm going to my baby wherever you go
You, leave me, ahhhhhhhhhh breathless

Mister Jerry Lee Comes Home to Rest - Tribute 7:

The old home town looks the same
As I step down from the train
And there to meet me Lord, is my mama and papa
Down the road I look and there runs Mary
Hair of gold and lips like cherries
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home

Yes, they'll all come to meet me
Arms reaching, smiling sweetly
Lord, it's good to touch the green, green grass of home

The old house is still standing
Though the paint is cracked and dry
And there's that old oak tree that I used to play on
Down the lane I walk with my sweet Mary
Hair of gold Lord and lips like cherries
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home

Then I awake and look around me
At four grey walls that surround me
And I realize that Lord, I was only dreaming
For there's a guard and there's a sad old padre
Arm in arm, we'll walk at daybreak
Again, I'll touch the green, green grass of home

Yes, they'll all come to see me
In the shade of that old oak tree
As they lay me 'neath the green, green grass of home

A Eulogy for Mister Jerry Lee:

Jerry Lee Lewis died following a short period of pneumonia on Friday, 28th October 2022 at his home in Nesbit, Mississippi, United States. He was 87.

Jerry Lee was born on 29th September 1935 in Ferriday, Louisiana and his parents were deeply religious, impoverished farmers. He showed such a natural aptitude for playing the piano at age 9 (self-taught) that his father mortgaged the family farm to buy him a piano. The more he practiced on the piano, the more confident the left hand and the wilder the right hand became.

In his teenage years, he sang and played piano in churches, honky-tonk bars, juke joints, talent shows, tent revivals (on the back of his father's truck), dinner theatres and on regional radio stations to perfect his skills. At the age of 21, he signed a contract with the legendary Sun Records (Sam Phillips owner) in 1956.

On Sun, he recorded 4 huge hits and it seemed he was destined for a meteoric rise to the top of his profession. However, his scandalous and tragic life nearly put an end to his promising career.

He was married 7 times. On a tour of the United Kingdom in 1958 accompanied by his third wife, a journalist at London's Heathrow Airport revealed that she was his 13 year old cousin. At the time, he was still legally married to his second wife. The publicity caused such outrage that the tour was cancelled after 3 concerts and his career in the United States collapsed.

His fourth and fifth wives died in "suspicious" circumstances; two of his sons accidentally died aged 3 and 19 respectively; he was arrested several times for gun related incidents; years of heavy alcohol drinking and drug abuse took their toll; he made repeated visits to hospitals and rehabilitation centres; internal bleeding from a tear in his stomach lining in 1981 nearly ended his life; he moved to Ireland in 1993 to escape from income taxation problems with the Internal Revenue Service.

However, Jerry Lee was a survivor and his star rose again.

In 1968, he signed with Smash Records and recorded county songs which repeatedly reached high positions on the country and western charts, several of them being Number 1 hits. His career was reignited.

His records on Sun were re-released to appreciative existing and new audiences; a biographical film and several biographical books were produced; he successfully toured the United States, Europe and other parts of the world; he made new albums with celebrated producers and performers who wanted to honour him.

He was now able to return to the roots of his earlier years and once again, perform in his live concerts on stage the music which he loved so much - wild rock and roll.

He may have been perpetually tormented by his burning desire to sing "sinful" music and his strict religious upbringing but if rock and roll was the devil's music, then Jerry Lee was the devil.

His live performances were incredibly energetic and sexually charged. He had an unleashed voice and a inflammable pumping- piano style which exploded on audiences.

He played a boogie-woogie rhythm with his left hand and glided from one pitch to another with his right hand alternating with frequent runs up and down the keys. Sometimes, he pounded the keys around the microphone stand or hit them with his right boot.

When he would kick away his stool to attack the piano standing up with a well-founded arrogant look on his face and his blonde wavy hair flying around, he became a magical sight that excited audiences would never forget. Standing on top of the piano, he left no doubt that he was using the handheld microphone as a phallic symbol.

Yes, his personal life and redneck ways can be justifiably criticised, denounced and even condemned but one undeniable fact remains: he was a supreme musical talent and showman.

Compared to him, the vast majority of so called performers today are faking it, not shaking it.

He was a rock and roll pioneer, one of rock and roll's founding fathers from the late 1940s through to the 1950s and he was the last man standing to bear witness to the birth of rock and roll. Along with the other pioneer greats, he helped to define and influence forever a form of music which will never die.

In his old age with his health declining, he made peace with the world, found redemption and prepared himself fearlessly for death.

Jerry Lee Lewis was buried in his birthplace of Ferriday, Louisiana on Saturday, 5th November 2022 to lay beneath the green, green grass of his home.

When I heard of Jerry Lee's death, a musical part of me also died but one day, we will be reunited in Rock and Roll Heaven along with all the other pioneer greats and there will be A Whole Lot of Shaking Going On for eternity. Rest in Peace :rose::rose::rose:

My baby is a jockey, she's teaching me how to ride

Said twice in the middle and jelly from side to side

She's little and she's low and she's built tough from the ground
Well, she's little and she's low and she's built tough from the ground
When my baby shimmies, she makes my love come down
