I’m getting flak from mods on my AI generated pic thread. It’s frustrating and disappointing. It’s my understanding that non photographic art is exempt from certain restrictions. I’m being told that the restrictions sort of apply. That leaves a lot of grey area….I’m being chastised for “sort of”. Either the restrictions apply or they don’t. Sort of..does not give me any direction or actionable criteria.

I’ve asked for clarification but have received none. I see photographic content that is much more risqué on threads and I am not complaining but confused.

The mods say people are complaining about my thread….I’m not sure why folk see fit to complain and maybe some of you can offer some constructive criticism in the comments.

I’m kind of at a loss here. There are threads that cover topics or include content I’m not anxious to see. I just avoid them.

What are your thoughts?

I totally agree with you and can't understand why anyone would complain. I'd describe the images as "tasteful" or soft porn and, as you say there are far more risquee images elsewhere.

I watched a thread in writer's board recently where someone complained about AI chat gpt etc. I think these complaints might be similar; just some people can't deal with change. Well get used to it! Change happens! Otherwise we'd still be sitting in caves making stone tools.....

I just took a look at a few you posted and I see nothing wrong with them. I suppose AI is something that we can expect a lot more of now that it's become a "thing".

Wow…..nothing other than good stuff as far as I can see.
BUT
I do wonder if there might be an issue with the ”Trump” images?
I might be wrong
Whatever……your images are bloody awesome 😁

I think it’s about content. Some content is prohibited in photographs but not in art. The question lies in where the line is. When art becomes too realistic does it then have to conform to the same restrictions as pictures. And who or how do you define too realistic?

I think the more technology advances the more important those questions will become

Honestly, I’m fine if they draw the line at all art, pics, ai, drawings, sketches ect. conform to the same restrictions. Make that the rule. Everything is treated the same. Then things are not ambiguous. Then there is no drama

Edit- and apply that rule equally and consistently.

Agree; the pragmatic, sensible approach. If only.....

There was one instance where I posted some pics of Harry Potter as I thought it was cool the AI could capture the likeness so well. Well, I was not thinking…the character Harry Potter is a kid…the images were removed and I apologized. Beyond a basic brain fart, a clear rule like that is easy to follow.

It’s when we get into the other guidelines that things get more murky, especially with non photographic graphics.

As long as I've been around there has been a "no underager" policy here. If the issue is that some of your faces appear too young, I understand that.

If the issue were that they only want non-AI content, I could understand that choice, but I don't think there is such a policy.

Doesn’t Harry Potter get into copyright issues?

Not sure about copyright as it’s user/ai created art that not presented in a commercial manner. If a person hand drew a picture of bugs bunny and posted it here cause they wanted to share, would that infringe..,I just don’t know

what complaints have you received from mods since you removed your harry p images (which should never have been posted, given the minors thing)?

and multiple mods, or just Jafo's post i saw as i briefly looked at some of your pages? from his comment, it looks like some are moaning about you posting so prolifically, possibly seeing it as 'knocking' their threads out of sight?

from what i saw, i don't see how anyone has a complaint but there will always be some, especially people making their own images not using AI and might see it as putting them at some disadvantage. Others might be objecting to a largely pic thread on a board more used to text... again, a kind of non-issue in my opinion but they might think your art should be posted on the art forum and not in the fetish one. And then there are those who just like to complain about anything. I would trust mods have given you the best advice but they have no control over who complains and why, and none at all over the rules imposed by the owners.

i can't swear to it, but there are court cases going on right now where the publication/distribution of AI-generated images of celebrities/actors are being contested. If your images of the faces look as close to the real thing that they could be mistaken for it, then you are on dodgy ground since the celebs/actors or film studios may have some legalese restricting anyone else from putting those out there in public.

if it looks more like a painting, a drawing, or a sculpture: if it could not be mistaken for a real person doing something/being in a situation they've not, you should be on solid ground.

As for guidelines, with the advent of any new tech the waters are muddy and will only get resolved through litigation. I would like to think Lit is as much up on this as anyone, and knows that right now there's no definitive ruling. Hopefully it will come soon.

The mods posted recently about graphic content. The guidelines stipulate that non photographic art is treated less restrictive than photos.

As far as the appropriate forum. A mod did suggest that it might be better in the art forum. They offered to move it. I answered back that I will defer to their judgement.

so A mod, Jafo, made that comment today... have you pm'd him directly asking for further clarification?

Moving it might be the best solution, at least for now. Of course you might get a few of the artists over on the art forum complaining...

good luck!

It would because even though the post is not making money off it and the forum itself isn’t, lit is a commercial site.

In case you haven’t seen them, the rules including copyright image ones are posted at the bottom on the page under terms and rules

The extremely graphic OB/GYN stuff is not appropriate in the degree of realism displayed in some images. Artwork (pen/brush/paper/canvas) doesn't get to that degree of realism.

Meanwhile this site is littered with what is considered revenge porn with no proof the people posting the pics of women are those women, or have the woman's permission to post. But you know, this site thinks its above the law

Going to be funny when the am pic thread gets them hit with so much legal trouble they shut down.

That's a big issue with AI right now as in does it violate copyrights and can it be copyrighted

Understood, but lit probably doesn’t want to find itself on the yet to be determined wrong side of the issue
