The biggest problem with most stories that I have seen no this website is that the are stories. There is always a main line that is well thought out and most it we choices just seen to be tagged on. Now this is not every story out there, but one most point out it is hard for an author who put all his time in one direction to go back and add more.
So what I am suggesting is to start a story with at least 4 dedicated authors. That way each can build his or her own arc to the story and also go through and add arcs more choices to the others arcs.
