I've been on a real retro kick lately. I just blasted through Kingdom Hearts and I'm getting ready to fire up Kingdom Hearts 2. Played through Pokemon Red again and just started through Crystal. I'm also getting into Pixil art, and I'm thinking about doing some of my old programming from college and maybe releasing some apps on Android or Xbox's Indi channel. Can't be any worse than some of this shit out there, right?

What's everybody else playing?

Get in Random Gamer silliness. We conquer this place by pulling together not apart!

It disappeared when I put Reci on iggy, so I made another one. That I can see. I don't think she has me on ignore so if we moved it here, everybody could still contribute.

Also, if I post the shitty game I'm making for practice here would you play it and give me feedback? I've only got the first very little bit done.

Gta V
Ghost Recon Future Soldier
Blackops 2

Was GTA 5 any good? I didn't get it because I was honestly kinda tired of GTA, but I've heard a lot of good things and I'm starting to think that maybe I should pick it up once it pricedrops a little.

I'll try to remember this thread even exists. Stupid people with stupid fights for stupid reasons.

I'll try to make the time to play the game on the secondary thread.

I'd give it a shot. Also none but red are really retro.

Why the hell would you ever play an old pokemon game?

I'm going through all of them. ALL OF THEM. To build up to X and Y.

Plus red is fucking hardcore. I forgot about some of that weird shit. You have to change PC boxes yourself. There's no icon telling me if I already caught something. And it has the best story of the two that I actually played. And it has Team Rocket in it.

And Lavender Town's music just fucks with me. I still think it's the creepiest game music... I don't know why but it creeps me the fuck out.

Not really, but just skip to Fire Red, same game and it's relevant! Nothing you do on Red matters it is literally a time sink!

I already beat it. I'm on Crystal now. Waiting for the goddamn egg to hatch.

Which... I'm supposed to be working on commissions right now, rather than playing Pokemon and fucking off on Lit.

If it's old enough to have a remake, doesn't that make it 'retro'?

Dunno. I'm gonna go the classic car and guitar route. Vintage and retro has to be 25 years old. Atari and Nes are retro. Red is just old. Speaking of, I saw a copy of red at a game store. Guy wanted 20 bucks:eek:

Don't play Crystal either. OMFG what is wrong with you? Did someone strangle you in the crib or something?!

That is pretty big bullshit.

I know I was half tempted to sell mine.

It's weird that a 20-year-old car is a classic. Because I would be a classic car. It's so fucked up. Makes me feel old. Like seeing Roseanne on Nick at Night.

Edit: Also, I could never sell mine. I have to keep it to show the kid when she's playing Pokemon... whatever. I want to be able to say, "Back in my day..."

Because that shit's cool. I loved my mom's Atari.

Still got the translucent gameboy and everything.

I have an unrelated question, but I figured the people in this thread would give solid advice. My nephew and my child want to build a video game. What would be the easiest format for them to pull that off, I am thinking an Android app game, not something rough like building a game for a gaming console? Or? And are there tools to help kids learn to write and develop all kinds of video or online or app games? We also have a hilarious idea for a Minecraft mod, but we have no idea where to start. Any advice appreciated.

Shit I have a big grey game boy somewhere. Got the pokemon game boy color too

I would go to click&create. Something like The Games Factory 2 is great, I had one when I was little. And I think now you can sell them in the Android marketplace for like 99 cents or free. Which is cool, because you see people download it and you get all happy.

You don't have to know programming language or anything, it's based around this simple, well, click & create engine.

The one when I was little, which I think was just "The Games Factory" came with a tutorial to help you make your first game too. I endorse it.

Everything prior to Ruby and Sapphire is incompatible with current games. There is no reason to play them and they've all been remade. And I presume our 2015 game will be a 3d remake of Ruby and Sapphire if they keep with the general pattern (it whould have happened last year but they decided to do Black and White 2) Oh well.
