SPOILER ALERT: IF YOU HAVEN'T YET, BUT PLAN ON READING THE X-MEN RELOADED TITLES, READ NO FURTHER!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Manohmanohman!!!
I just finished the new eXcalibur book (#1) and, all I can say is, WTF?
Claremont has brought Magneto back! Again! And so soon after Morrison killed him off??? SHIT!!!!
OK, I'll give you this: Chris Claremont is the only one who SHOULD be writing the characters. If anyone is going to kill-off one of the characters, it should be him!
But I thought Grant Morrison did a good, credible job of writing for his whole stint! He breathed life into the franchise that had been gasping since Claremont left the last time. (Nicieza did a good job, too, in MY opinion. But, that is just MY opinion, after all.)
Anyway, I wonder HOW Claremont's gonna write his way outa' this one!
Any way you look at it, this "RELOADED" STORY LOOKS PRETTY GOOD!

Come on!
Doesn't ANYBODY read the X-Men books?
Am I the ONLY one?
Hello? I can't be the only one who'll admit it, can I?
Sheeesh!
Ya chicken shits!
:p

I got the book; haven't read it yet, though.
The art in Excalibur wasn't too bad. The main reason I got the book was because Claremont is writing it!

eh i am noticing he gets word heavy....

My son thought that excalibur was good. I wasn't that thrilled with it. Was surprised seeing Magneto at the end too

X-Men #157

Finally got X-Men #157, this week (a week late because my comic shop damaged the whole weekly shipment! Grrr!)
Anyway, it's interesting. Not great, but it looks like Austen is taking this book in a cool direction...
Next to read: Astonishing X-Men!
Will let you know how that one looks.

See? That's around the time when Chris Claremont left the books!!! I'll bet, if you picked them up now, you'd get hooked all over again!
Go on... Give it a try! I double-dog dare ya'!:D

Comics cost too much to bother to read. $5 for 20 pages of story? I can buy a novel, which will keep me entertained for ten times that amount of time, at least.

The only future comic companies DC and Marvel have is licensing their characters to movie and videogame companies, to trade on the nostalgia factor. That time is now. Ten years from now, no one will carel.

Sweetheart, people have been saying that about comic books for 50+ years! I have several comic books that are worth over $1,000! EACH!
I don't think that the industry is going anywhere but UP!
And you can take that to the bank!
No, wait-a-minute... You can't! Because you don't have any of MY comic books, do you!:p

Please, forgive me...
That was kind of uncalled-for.
Excuse my snotty coments, please.
Thank you.

Well I don't live in a comic shop either, but if you want to compare investing in comic books compared to investing in the stock market I'm sorry you're going to lose. Or even investing in CDs, real estate, or anything else adults put their money in.

My comic collection, shite as it is, I am sure is worth less than a grand. However even if you own some super rare Spider-Man comic worth $1000, it's nothing compared to actually investing in the stock market. I've made five times my money on particular stocks so really you're talking about some kid's lawnmower money, comics.

Kids, take note, here: Invest in comic books today. Put them away, in plastic bags, for a few years. Then dig 'em back out again and take them to a comic shop and watch your initial investment of a few pennies JUMP to a few dollars!!!

My comics, in the mid 1970's cost me 25 cents!!!
I just sold one for $1,300!!!
That's a considerable appreciation, I think, don't you?

And besides, "adult" investments are soooo boring, they're almost passe! Trust me: when the "fit hits the shan" in the market, you'll be lookin' to sell your collection. Even if it is "shite!"

I'm sure you've managed to pay for the college tuitions of all your children this way. Which of course is ridiculous. Most of us are not some 50 year old nerd with a stack full of 70s comics. Or are you seriously advocating that people, today, should eschew actual investments and buy a bunch of 2004 Marvel Comics as a serious investment?

A 25 cent item selling for $1,300, even accounting for inflation, is an appreciation in value of what? 1000%? Sounds like a good investment to me.

I see nothing wrong with investing in collectible items as well as conventional investments, especially if you pick the right ones. A mint condition copy of Amazing Spider-Man #1 would probably go for several grand nowadays, especially on Ebay or something. Auctions are the way to go for rare items.

My gosh! Try, in excess of, $50,000!!! Yes, over fifty thousand dollars, my friends!!!
For something that once cost a dime, to now be worth fifty K, is Amazing! Spectacular! (Web of...?):D
