Dear stupid, anonymous fuck commenting on my work. When I post a warning of "homosexual content" at the beginning of my story, there will be homosexual content IN my story. Use your eyes and read, numbnuts. Oh, and STFU, you 400-pound unemployed living-in-your-grandmother's basement neckbeard. Stop using your older sister's breastpump on your garish man tits.

That is all. Peace and love, y'all! :)

I always enjoy advising anonymous to go suck on a dead dingos dick myself. It has a gratifying flow and I always end up laughing 😂

Vent! Let it all out!

I don't know. It strikes me that the OP was being just a little bit shy. That worries me - left alone, that sort of thing can fester inside. It would have been better had he just come out and said what he really was thinking. But that's just me.

It was a bit understated for me, too.

Authors should not underestimate the potential idiocy of readers. Especially LIT.

No, don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel :D

It never seems to matter how much you warn them upfront they still complain coming out the rear.

Hmm there's quite a visual statement in that...

Chances are your anonymous friend doesn’t visit this side of Lit. So your venting is falling on deaf ears. Most of us just delete such ignorance and move on

Actually, it's the only real moment of power I have to enjoy...I eagerly await evil just to use that unstoppable delete button! I fear the power may be changing me into a person I don't recognize:eek: Like; It's been awhile since I had an 'evil attack'...I'm ashamed to admit I used my powers on an innocent...I'm sooo ashamed, but I feel better for confessing it.

First rule of Fight Club: Don't feed the troll. Second rule of Fight Club: DON'T FEED THE TROLL!!!

Delete and move on, if he/she/it knows they've gotten under your skin they chalk it up as a win, just delete and don't acknowledge, they'll have to either use their site name next time, or create a new alt so they can anon you again; they have to go through all that effort, while all you have to do is delete their next one as soon as it appears, and the next one and the next one; one keystroke trumps all their effort, just keep that in mind. I learned that the hard way, with a kick in the pants from Chloe, Tex, KeithD, and a couple of others

This advice keeps popping up. Does everyone else around here delete comments? Is it really more helpful to do that? Do you find it helps or hurts your stories (or, does it have any effect at all)? Does it help your peace of mind?

I like 1-bombs: I subscribe to the Katt Williams Pimpology philosophy that haters need to hate on the best. But I turned comments off on my stories except the 750 Word event one (“Got Drunk, etc”,) since it was part of a larger writing project. It seemed the comments group-corrected:

Some author commented “incest isn’t best” and 1-bombed; 2 people then commented “it is the best.” Someone complained my character’s nickname, “Greedy,” was so stupid he couldn’t read the story and 1-bombed. I thought that was an odd limit to his disbelief, but gave suggestions besides the NBA where to see the nick in action (since Greedy’s a reoccurring character in my stories.) I never went back to see what else the guy wrote, but someone told me his response was so nasty that another commenter called him a fucking idiot who needs to go back to “See Jane suck dick” stories. This was the trend in my other posts before turning comments off.

(I know this veers the thread, but I don’t want to start a new topic that attracts trollers.)

I have never deleted a comment and never turned off comments. I get a kick out of the really insane nasty ones, although they were a shock at first. To me it's just a feature of the landscape here.

I don't respond to most comments, and I never respond to troll comments. Doing so sometimes invites them to go through your story catalogue and one bomb other stories. I think it's best to ignore them. But I'm twisted enough that I like sometimes going back and checking them out.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the really nasty comments often will get swept by the site administrator, without any effort by you. That's happened to me a lot. So be patient and you may see some trolls vanish.

Fun's fun, but I do agree with Beachbum. Like toddlers under-dosing on Vitamin N, trolls are going to anything to get attention - attention of any kind is the payoff for them.

Have I deleted any? A few, here and there. Basic Mendelian pruning? One can always hope.

But Kantarii is right, too. THe target of the OPs rant (good prose though it were) aren't like to come to the AH.

Thanks MasterDoom and TP. All food for thought. Though I have seen my referenced commenters posting around AH and Story Feedback. It’s part of what kept me from getting active on the forum initially, and partly why I’m asking now.

That really is a poorly chosen response, since anyone who has their tongue down there will most likely have teeth down there as well.

It is highly unlikely that the moron will return to see if you have responded to their comment. Their satisfaction is gained from making the original comment not from any response you might make.

Delete or don’t delete. It’s up to you. Whether I would delete a comment would depend on what’s been written and comments that others may have made.

But if you do respond don’t do it in anger. Do it with sarcasm and humour. If they do return that’s going to spoil their enjoyment and and provide a laugh for readers who have enjoyed the story.

I don't think I have ever deleted any comments other than spam, and with the new moderation, we don't get those anymore. I'm fortunate in that I have never gotten many nasty ones. At worst, I've gotten some that were just baffling.

Have any other female authors gotten the "I will give you a 5 if you send me a pic of your tits" comments?

I have seen, on my own work and others, that a negative comment will sometimes spur other readers to make thoughtful comment in the author's defense, so there can be an upside to leaving them stand.

That was colorful.

Well done.

Thanks, MelissaBaby. Haha, I think some readers assume I’m a man from my name. I hadn’t gotten that comment.... Have any of you guys gotten this/similar offer quid pro quo?

All for laffs

This is sort of a blanket response to all the wonderful posts. Yes, the original comment was done with humor, sarcasm and was certainly tongue-in-cheek. Years ago, after posting my first few stories, I allowed the trolls room inside my head, but now I merely envision their dubious lives and what it takes to post some of the lamest comments known to humankind. I know they're like cockroaches - one will never stamp them out, so why not have some fun?

I also debated writing this hopefully clarifying add-on. The original post let me know who gets my sense of humor and who doesn't.

To borrow from an obscure Steinbeck novel, "Sweet Thursday" everyone!

I declined the request. I don't like to disappoint my readers.

Not making any promises, but I might give some of these fellas a 5 in exchange for a nice butt pic.
