<-- East Commonwealth Field Report New York City Recon Mission - 08/10/2256 -->
The city is a hopeless cause. What remains of the buildings there are are losing a fight against nature with mutated plants growing at an exponential rate and feral animals running wild in the streets.

We were able to gather some supplies and equipment from Vault 5 to the north of the city, but Vault 4, located under the ruins of Grand Central Station, is a bust. The door is sealed tight and I don't think they'll be opening it anytime soon.

While exiting the city we encountered a party of well-armed soldiers claiming to be scouting for supplies from a settlement in the Pittsburgh area. They were accompanied by several ragged looking survivors who seemed to be in some distress.

Due to their heavily armaments and well-trained appearance we disengaged and will be returning to Great Lanta shortly.

Damn fool child has really gone too far this time. Young Emily Harris was down in MedBay this morning for her annual medical and reported being molested sexually by the girl. At this rate we won't have anyone willing to visit the doctor once old Peabody dies.

I told her father the girl needed to be married off by now, it's not natural for her to be unwed at her age and it only serves to encourage sin. Best course is to get rid of her ASAP, so young Peggy Carter can take her place and one day be Chief Medical Officer instead.

I'm sending Scarlett out into the city to find some fresh medical supplies, Lord knows we need them. If by some miracle she does manage to survive some good may yet come of this whole mess.

If she doesn't, then that's the Lord's will.

Thursday, 26th March, 2161 AD - 84 AGW

Blinking her eyes as she lifted her hand to cover them Scarlett stepped up the staircase into the largest room she'd ever seen. Across the hall the sun glared mightily thought the large windows as she peered around at the unfamiliar surroundings. Everywhere she looked there seemed to be rubble, but she was undeterred, this was the first time in generations anyone had left the Vault, and she felt honoured to have been chosen.

Slowly she began to make her way over to the window, climbing up the pile of rubble before looking out over the city. To anyone else the overgrown vista may have been depressing, but to Scarlett it was a new horizon filled with possibilities. As she looked out over the crumbling buildings only one thought passed through her mind.

'I wonder if there's anyone out there, and I wonder if they wanna get laid...'

Liam Hawke
Ex Brotherhood Of Steel Knight
Height: 6"2"
Weight: 96 kgs. Muscular body type.
Eye: Bright Blue
Hair: Black
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Age: 26

Liam was with the California chapter of The Brotherhood Of Steel for a fair few years and he thought he would be with them for more. But after a load of changes by new leaders and rules that were being conservative and stupid Liam had enough. He had asked two of his best mates if they wanted to leave this place with him but they said no. So that left Liam on his lonesome out in the wasteland.

Liam was a alot luckier than most people in the wasteland, having power armour and the best range of weapons and explosives. So he didn't really have any problems with any humans he encountered they would usually stray away from him when he had his armor on. Though he did have to kill a alot of mutated creatures.

Liam spent all his time traveling across the U.S, going to the East Coast he decided. But after awhile he stopped and thought why tje hell is he going there? He didn't really know. He stopped in abandoned buildings, remote settlements and semi destroyed cities when he needed rest or wanted a break.

After months of the same process he saw signs that he was approaching the state of New York. Liam smiled, he had always wanted to see New York

"So this is the fabled Time Squared," Scarlett mumbled to herself as she wandered down the middle of the abandoned street. All around her the buildings were falling to ruin, trees twisting their way up through the ground and the concrete with equal ease. "The recordings didn't do you justice."

It had been almost three days since she'd left the Vault but Scarlett felt good. Her Pip-Boy had turned out to be far more effective than it had in the Vault and already its motion tracker had allowed her to avoid packs of wilds dogs and giant cockroaches without even needing to resort to the plasma pistol her brother had snuck into her pack on the way out the Vault.

She'd found a large old office building down by the river east of the Vault and had made herself a nice base camp where she kept the merger supplies that had been given to her when she left along with a few items she'd managed to salvage from the ruins. She still had no idea where to find the medical supplies she'd been sent out to find though, and had spent most of her time simply wandering the streets as he Pip-Boy mapped the area for her.

Suddenly she heard a chirp from her wrist as the motion tracker picked up a signal. Quickly checking it Scarlett saw blips appearing everywhere, all around her. How the hell could this have happened? She thought as she pulled her plasma pistol out and started scanning the surrounding buildings for movement. Where are they all coming from?

Almost as soon as she'd asked herself the question she felt a vice-like grip on her ankle as a hand grabbed hold of her. Screaming loudly she pointed her pistol at the charred, burnt arm that was reaching up from an old sewer drain and opened fire.

Liam made his way further into the city. The skyline was very tall as some of the massive buildings had half remained intact or parts of them had crumbled but not all. It was a fresh sight seeing alot more structures compared to what he has previously seen.

Liam in no time was on some of the main streets in the city. He saw a convenience store that was next to an alley. The main entrance was all fucked up with debris surrounding it. So he went to the side entrance in the alley and kicked down the door.

Inside it was quiet. Liam searched up and down the isles of the store, he found a few cans of food and water. He smiled an opened up a can of mixed beans, took of his power helmet and began to eat some of them. After resting at the store for awhile Liam gathered up more supplies and made his way out back onto the streets.

As Liam was walking her heard a loud scream, he stopped looking around as it did not sound to far away. He then heard a gunshot fired

As she swung her pistol one way then the other Scarlett saw the walking corpses crawling up from below the street. Some were pulling themselves through sewer drains, other lifting manhole covers and clambering out from underneath while many more clawed their way up through the cracks and tears which littered the street.

Firing off shot after shot Scarlett was keeping the creatures back for now, but at this rate her weapon would be drained in minutes. Quickly tapping her Pip-Boy she brought up the record of her supplies and found she only had another two power cells left. At this rate she wouldn't even make it to the end of her first week on the surface.

Liam listened closely trying to figure out which direction the gun shot came from, fortunately for him whoever it was sounded off more shots which helped him locate the sounds. He started to make his way over to whatever was happening.

He picked up his walked pace as the shots kept firing. He ducked in through a car park building and went up a level so he would have higher ground. He got to the other side and looked out aiming with his laser rifle. Down on the street he saw a woman that was shooting at what seemed to be feral ghouls. Liam aimed down his rifle and fired at the ghouls

The pistol was beginning to overheat and Scarlett could feel the sweat running down between her breasts, staining her tight top. The monsters were drawing closer and as she turned one appeared close enough to reach out and grab her. Just as it's clawed hand moved forwards the creature's head snapped to the side, a gaping hole running through it.

Quickly Scarlett ducked into cover, unsure if she was being assisted or whether a new attacker was approaching. Her radio had been picking up infrequent chatter which had spoken of human prisoners, slaves, being taken south, and she didn't want to end up as just another piece of meat at the market place.

Snapping off more shots towards the walking corpses she darted her head up just long enough to spot the armoured figure in the distance, a rifle held against its shoulder as it fired kill shot after kill shot into the horde. She recognised the armour from the Vault history tapes, but didn't understand why someone wearing it would be out in the ruined city alone.

Quickly scanning the surrounding buildings she tried to spot the rest of their squad as she switched her Pip-Boy to broadcast mode and lifted it to her mouth.

"Unknown armoured figure to my 3 o'clock. If you can hear me please signal." She said, calling into the microphone before turning back to watch the figure for a response.

Liam opened fire at the ghouls. Hitting them headshot after headshot. He saw the women that was firing at them Quickly make her way to cover and she took a few more shots at the ghouls.

Liam heard a broadcast "Unknown armoured figure to my 3 o'clock. If you can hear me please signal." He looked down to see the women looking up at him. "I can hear you loud and clear" he responded

As she head the voice respond Scarlett smiled to herself. 'At least they're willing to talk," She thought, 'That's always a good start."

"Please identify and state your intent." She broadcast, using the same frequency as the incoming signal this time, rather than the blanket broadcast again.

Radios could be useful in the Wastes but at the same time if she could listen in on their chatter, the salvers could probably pick heres up to. Even if they couldn't the fact there were people for them to prey upon at all told her there were other people out there who could also be interested in tracking her.

Liam chuckles as he hears what the woman says next. "Well I seem to be helping you out at the moment" he says. He then what appears to be the final ghoul down on the streets. "I suggest that you should come up here where its safer" he broadcasts to the woman

As she heard is sarcastic reply Scarlett look out from behind her cover, still scanning the buildings without seeing his companions. 'Is he really by himself?' She wondered as she watched him snap off another brace of killer rounds. She suddenly realised that with his level of marksmanship he could've killed her at any time, and if he did have companions they'd most likely be able to do the same.

Tucking her pistol into her belt and tugging her tight, sweat-moistened top into a slightly more flattering position she darted out into the road, dodging from cover to cover as she made her way up to the armoured sniper.

Liam saw the woman get out of cover and make her way over to where his position is. Liam looked ahead making sure there were no threats around. He put down his gun and removed his helmet from his head revealing his black spikey hair. He wiped the sweat that had formed on his forehead. The one downfall about his armour is that its heavy and makes him pretty hot after awhile.

As she reached the base of the large pile of rubble Hawke was standing on Scarlett looked back down into the Square. There were still a few of the feral ghoul around, but they seemed to have learnt their lesson and were beginning to scatter into the buildings or leaping back down the holes returning underground.

Looking up at her saviour she raised her hand to protect her eyes as the sun shone down from behind him forming a halo of bright light which made it difficult for her to see him clearly. Her sweat soaked top stretched tightly over her chest as she did but Scarlett wasn't worried about that, if anything the sight of her natural 32DD chest was likely to work in her favour.

For one paranoid moment she wondered whether he'd planned it that way before dismissing the idea. What would be the point in deceiving her at this point, if he'd wanted to rob her or kill her it would've been easier to let the ghouls finish her off first, rather than wasting all the ammunition he'd just used saving her.

"Are you alone?" She called up to him, her eyes still darting around the surrounding buildings and not seeing any sign of movement . Even glancing down at her Pip-Boy the only movement she could pick up was the retreating ghouls behind her.

Liam saw the woman close now and wow what a sight she was. She had to be the most beautiful woman he had seen in years. Her face was perfection, she had green captivating eyes, long blonde locks and very large breasts that were quite eye catching.

"Well what's it look like" Liam responds as he stretches his arms outwide. "Just us two, what about you? Do you have any companions?"

"I'm just a scout, out searching for supplies." She called out as she scrambled up the loose rubble, bending forwards an using her hands to help keep her balance towards the man. Her breasts swayed easily from side to side as she moved, and she let them. Even growing up amongst the Fundamentalist, puritanical Christians of the Vault she'd learnt that a little titillation often made things go a lot more smoothly, and in her case God had blessed her with plenty of titillation to work with.

She want to tell the man she was cut off from the Vault, and wasn't even sure if she should tell him of its existence. From what she'd heard on the radio, the Vault would be a prime target for the slavers, filled with advanced technologies and plenty of fresh, healthy new slaves for the market. While the armoured man didn't seem like a slaver, his weapons and gear seeming too sophisticated for lowly scavengers, he could still just be trying to lure her in to capture her.

"Is there any way I can thank you for aiding me?" She asked him tentatively as she finally stood on the same level as him, wiping her hands on the tight denim jeans she was wearing, cut-off below the knee so they wouldn't interfere with her heavy, padded combat boots.

Craning her neck to look up at the tall man, she admired his rugged good looks for a moment before turning away, gesturing down the street with her right hand while subtly trying to hide her left behind her so he didn't take notice of the Pip-Boy on her wrist. "I have a base camp to the East with some valuable supplies, we could trade perhaps?"

This woman was just so beautiful and he marveled at her as she was now close to him. When she asked about thanking him for aiding him a dirty thought crossed his mind buy he squashed it out. " No its fine I don't need your thanks"

"Yeah I would be happy to see your goods" Liam said then briefly smiling. " Is it far away?" He asked as he put his helmet back on and picked up his gun

Turning back towards the Square, her denim pants stretching tight as she did, Scarlett pointed towards one of the street running off to the east. "It's just over of a kilometre that way, a large office building with flagpoles out the front," She said, before without thinking lifting her Pip-Boy and activating its map function. "We can't take a direct route, the roads are blocked with rubble and creature nests. I haven't had time to check the area north of here much, but the south seems clear enough."

Turning back towards Hawke Scarlett looked past him towards the sun. It was hanging low in the sky, its glow reflecting off of her eye for a moment before she looked away again. "We should be able to make it before nightfall, if we hurry. I prefer not to travel in the dark, I've heard... 'things' moving about and I'd rather not find out what they are."

Pulling her pistol from her pack Scarlett quickly checked the power level. It was almost empty, the cell barely even registering on the gauge. With a quick flick of her wrist she quickly pulled the spent power cell fromt the housing before slotting in a fresh one, slipping the spent cell into her pack for recharging once she got back to camp.

With another quick flick, she snapped the power cell into place, before holding the pistol beside her face as it hummed to life. "You ready to go?"

Liam watched as the women look towards her camp and explained. " Good it's not too far, yes I have noticed that there is alot of rubble blocking off some streets around here." The woman reloaded her gun and asked 'You ready to go?'

"Sure am" Liam responded and they then set out. Liam maintained a pace 1 metre behind the woman. He looked around for any danger but got distracted by the ass of the woman walking infront of him. He couldn't help but keep checking it out as they walked.

" So what's your name?" Liam asks

Wondering for a moment just how much she could trust this man Scarlett decided to play it safe, but giving her name to him seemed harmless enough, after all it wasn't like he could look her up on the VaultNet and find out about her less than perfect past. "I'm Scarlett," She called back over her shoulder as she climbed over the bonnet of an old rusted car. "Scarlett Sloan. And what should I call you?"

The man was a mystery to her, his armoured suit hid everything and when she stopped to thing about it for a moment that was kinda frightening. I'll have to get him out of it as soon as we get back, she thought to herself with a wicked smirk, already picturing what he'd look like naked by the campfire.

After what seemed like a moment of hesitation she said her name. Scarlett what a beautiful name he thought. Liam jumped over the car with ease.

" I'm Liam. It's a pleasure to meet you" Liam says with a witty tone in his voice. " So you say your a scout. Would that be from a vault?" Liam asks noticing the pip boy device on her arm. Liam had come across some vaults and people from them. They generally weren't happy encounters either

Stopping in her tracks Scarlett jerked around to look squarely into Liam's visor, trying to see passed the coloured glass to try and get any indication of exactly what he'd meant by that question. Was he a tech scavenger trying to break into the Vault, or was he some sort of slaver seeking a fresh stock of untainted and pure slaves for the market.

"I'm just a nomad." She said cautiously, lifting her left arm up and gesturing to the Pip-Boy 3000 attached to her wrist. "My tribe managed to locate a cracked Vault a few years back and we recovered some of the technology from inside, including a few of these things. Seemed like a shame to leave them lying around."

Her eyes never left her companion's helmeted head as she spoke slowly and clearly, wondering just how much the stranger knew about Vault technology, and whether he'd know the Pip-Boy would've had to have been calibrated by the VaultNet computers when it had been activated. In theory it would be possible to hack the system, if someone was skillful enough, but that level of sophistication would normally mean they'd come from a Vault themselves, or at least been trained by someone who had.

It was a risky move, after all she'd be giving away some of the Vault secrets just by mentioning it, but in the circumstances she had to take the risk. "Luckily for us one of our Elders had been a Vault Dweller, and she was able to show us how to get them to work."

Scarlett claimed she was not from a vault and that she merely found the pip boy in a vault. Liam didn't fully believe that statement. For starters he had seen barely any people with pip boys on and when he did come across them they were from vaults. Also there was the factor of finding it and having to recalibrate it or so. Liam did not fully comprehend the tech side of pip boys.

With this doubt now in his mind of whether he could trust this woman Liam made sure his weapon had full ammo and was ready to fire if she was dragging him into a trap. He didn't think she was but better to be safe than sorry.

"How much further to go?"

"Not far," Scarlett replied as she stepped around the corner. "In fact, you can see the place from here."

The sun was just setting behind them, flowing over the rooftops of the shattered buildings around what was once the UN Building, which still stood impressively intact with its armoured windows and reinforced walls. The street leading up to it seemed clear, but sometimes creatures nesting didn't show up until she was almost on top of them, so with a firm grip on her pistol she picked her way between the scattered rubble, keeping one ear out for his Pip-Boy's motion sensor and one eye on the surrounding buildings.

"And what's your story?" She called back over her shoulder to Liam, "I've heard travelling alone can be dangerous in the Wasteland."

It was surprising that a city had some buildings still intact. Liam noticed that there were a few buildings still standing high along the cityscape. It gave a sense of... of that there is still hope for a better time.

"My story? Well..." There was no harm in telling her about himself. ".. I'm from a group called the Brotherhood Of Steel, you may or may not of heard about them. I was with the California chapter of the group and I didn't see eye to eye with them on some decisions and directions of the group so I left. I've been traveling across America since then"

Liam felt a bit of sadness come over him. Remembering his Brotherhood Of Steel friends and the good times they had. Liam shook this emotion out of his head.

Scarlett could tell Liam didn't really want to talk about his past so as she stepped up in front of the building's main doors and reached for the hidden control panel set into one of the flanking pillars she quickly tried to think of something else to talk about.

"That was some great shooting today, were you a sniper in the Brotherhood?" She asked, flicking the switch to raise the armoured shutters which kept looters out of her base before dodging under it and moving into the foyer.

Her eyes did a quick sweep of the area as she made sure everything was exactly how she'd left it, ammo boxes and crates of processed food piled one side of the reception desk while the portable generator unit, wired into a solar collector on the roof, hummed on the other side. Satisfied no-one had been messing with her stuff while she'd been gone Scarlett pocketed her pistol and rummaged in her pack for the drained power cells.
