What Are You Listening To Now? 6.0

Rollin' in My Sweet Baby's Arms - Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, Ricky Skaggs and Alison Krauss.

His use of "sample and hold" pedals was quite clever, I'll give him that. Not a fan of the voices, way too much treble and nothing to balance it out.

Something in a similar vein. A man, his voice and some clever use of sample and hold.

Sam Perry - Brighter Moons

He went and won The Voice Australia last year. Kid has mad talent.

I think it's the rawness of the way he sings that I do like. Probably why I like Pearl Jam too, because of his voice and the rawness, his passion.

I'll check this out in a bit, thanks for suggesting it. I love checking out new music!

Right now I'm listening to Liam's dad :D
Love this version of Don't Dream It's Over. This song always makes me think of the scene in The Stand.

Okay Chloe, here's your chance to level up your music nerd level.

Hawkwind - Master of the Universe
https://youtu.be/X3W7ch0oLeA

Of course I bring the weird shit :)

Was Hawkwind something to do with that english SF writer Michael Moorcock?

Aaaaand .... Nerd you and raise you one.....

King Crimson In The Court Of The Crimson King live

The rusted chains of prison moons
Are shattered by the sun
I walk a road, horizons change
The tournament's begun
The purple piper plays his tune
The choir softly sing
Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
For the court of the crimson king

The keeper of the city keys
Put shutters on the dreams
I wait outside the pilgrim's door
With insufficient schemes
The black queen chants
the funeral march
The cracked brass bells will ring
To summon back the fire witch
To the court of the crimson king.....

Know it, love it. King Crimson is prog rock 101. :)

And yes, Moorcock has been resident lyricist and live poet for Hawkwind in their weird early days. In return, they have made at least onealbum about his Runestaff saga, which is a lot more accessible than "Master..." Look for their " Live Chronicle" double CD (or youtube it :)), it was my gateway into their music as well.

And yes, Lemmy played for them too.

BTW: Chloe, that Crimson track was the reason I bought that LP !

Meanwhile, THIS is how to open a big Gig, I reckon.
[pity about the camera, though].

Glad I brought back some memories.:rose:

I was fluffing around searching for 60's and 70's british stuff that wasn't quite so mainstream as the Sweet and Slade and Jethro Tull (not forgetting The Who or The Small Faces) and King Crimson popped up. I quite liked that track. Called up my granddad last night (okay, FaceTimed...) and asked and he laughed, said he'd never listened to British stuff, his were all groups like Kansas and America and Chicago and The Doors and The Eagles and Eric Burdon and the Animals.... and Jefferson Airplane - and he loves the Grateful Dead, I remembered that. He had a few more for me as well, so now I am on a mission, creating a playlist of my granddad's music....

Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit

Grateful Dead - Ripple

Grateful Dead - Ripple - AJ Lee - a more recent cover
