Missouri High School Student Reprimanded For Carrying Bible Around School…

If she was yelled at for carrying a Koran CAIR would be feigning outrage and the school would be holding “tolerance” meetings.

(KMOV.com) – The mother of a Potosi High School student said a teacher went too far when her daughter was reprimanded for carrying a Bible around school.

Angela English says her daughter, Kiela, called her from school saying a teacher yelled at her for carrying a bible and discussing religion with a classmate.

Her daughter wasn’t punished, but she says it’s clear even talking about the bible in the hallways of the high school isn’t acceptable.

Angela started using Facebook to plan a bible protest for students to stand up for their religious rights at school on Thursday.

“We’ve asked the children to bring the bibles and carry it, not preach and shove religion in their face but to show they have the right to carry the bible,” said Angela English.

News 4 has tried contacting the Potosi School District for comment, but have not heard back.

This sounds like a manufactured controversy.

High school science teacher suspended for teaching science

The LA Times reports that Greg Schiller, a popular high school science teacher, was suspended because two of his students made projects that "appeared dangerous to administrators."

One project used compressed air to propel a small object but it was not connected to a source of air pressure, so it could not have been fired. (In 2012, President Obama tried out a more powerful air-pressure device at a White House Science Fair that could launch a marshmallow 175 feet.)

Another project used the power from an AA battery to charge a tube surrounded by a coil. When the ninth-grader proposed it, Schiller told him to be more scientific, to construct and test different coils and to draw graphs and conduct additional analysis, said his parents, who also are Los Angeles teachers.

A school employee saw the air-pressure project and raised concerns about what looked to her like a weapon, according to the teachers union and supporters. Schiller, who said he never saw the completed projects except in photos, was summoned and sent home. Both projects were confiscated as "evidence," said Susan Ferguson, whose son did the coil project.

One of the most important lessons kids learn in public schools is that school administrators are usually autocratic imbeciles.

They are bureaucrats with authority, which is another way of saying the same thing. This is not to say anything against teachers - just against the idiots who try to keep them from doing their jobs.

Bergen Administrators Fear ‘Game of Thrones’ Quote, Censor Professor

Brace yourselves; censorship is coming!

Displaying a lack of both pop culture and First Amendment awareness, administrators at Bergen Community College in New Jersey placed Professor Francis Schmidt on leave this past January, requiring him to meet with a psychiatrist before returning to campus—just for posting a picture of his daughter in a T-shirt quoting the popular HBO television show Game of Thrones.

Schmidt, an art and animation professor, was required to meet with Jim Miller, an executive director at the college, as well as two other administrators prior to being put on leave because Miller believed he received a “threatening email” from Schmidt.

There are many problems with this accusation. First, the email was not sent from Schmidt. Jim Miller is a contact of Schmidt’s on Google+, so Miller automatically received an email from Google when Schmidt posted on Google+. Second, the “threatening” material was a picture of Schmidt’s young daughter doing yoga in a Game of Thrones T-shirt with the quote, “I will take what is mine with fire & blood.” For those who are unfamiliar with Game of Thrones, this is a quote from the character Daenerys, who is pledging to retake the throne in Westeros, a war-torn continent and the primary setting of the series.

While other characters in the show should probably be concerned that Daenerys will retake the throne with fire and blood (and dragons), administrators at Bergen Community College certainly don’t need to worry. Unfortunately, they are apparently under the impression that Schmidt’s T-shirt is not an expression of his interest in the show, but of his intentions to shoot up the school. Inexplicably, Miller claimed that he believed the “fire” described in Daenerys’ quote “could be a kind of proxy for ‘AK-47s.’”

Students Playing “Nerf Gun Wars” Cited By Police And Placed On Academic Probation

Nerf gun

Public lucky they weren’t menaced with the infamous pop tart shaped like a gun…

WAUSAU — Police have issued disorderly conduct citations to six high school seniors in Wausau for a toy Nerf gun battle.

Some residents of Wausau called police when they saw the young people pointing a gun at a car Tuesday night. But, it was only a toy Nerf gun that shoots foam bullets. Police Capt. Ben Bliven tells WAOW-TV a number of people were frightened by the plastic Nerf guns, so officers had to respond appropriately.

One parent who saw the Nerf gun battle, Scott Hansen, says police went too far in issuing disorderly conduct citations. Wausau West High School officials have also placed some students on athletic probation. School spokesman Jeff Lindell says the Nerf gun game comes up from time to time and keeps evolving.

The fight was a part of Nerf Wars, also called Senior Shoot Out, a popular game played every spring by seniors at Wausau East and Wausau West high schools in which teams of four try to eliminate other players by shooting them with soft Nerf pellets. Last week, school officials sent notices to parents at both high schools asking them to speak to their students about the possible consequences of playing the game if behavior got out of hand.

The potential problem, according to the letter, are rules associated with the game that include having students remove clothing to avoid being eliminated.

Government School Confiscates Second-Grader’s Bible

We know what the liberals running publics schools want kids to read: Two Boys Kissing. A story from Cypress, Texas indicates what they don’t want children reading:

The family of a 2nd grade student at Hamilton Elementary says their daughter’s book of choice – the Bible – was an issue of concern for her teacher, and that two weeks ago, during a “read to myself” time, the girl’s teacher took her Bible away.

The family did not go to the school’s principal, instead, reaching out to the Liberty Institute, to convey its concerns to [Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District].

The family wants to remain anonymous, fearing retaliation.

That’s the kind of country we live in now.

Students: It’s Illegal To Wear An American Flag Shirt On Cinco De Mayo In California

Students in a California school district will not be allowed to wear American flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo, due to concerns that such displays of patriotism would inflame racial tensions by offending Mexican students on their holiday.

The district’s policy concerned many free speech advocates, but was upheld by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In response, Tea Party groups plan to protest outside Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill. And they will be wearing American flag T-shirts.

“They silenced a symbol of patriotism and freedom in America,” said Georgine Scott-Codiga, president of the Gillroy-Morgan Hill Patriots, in a statement to KCBS.

The trouble dates back to Cinco de Mayo in 2010, when the school forced four students to remove their American flag T-shirts. Administrators worried that fighting would break out between white and Latino students if the shirts were noticed, and so the four offending students were sent home.

The practice of limiting one group’s free speech rights because that speech might cause another group to react violently is known as the “heckler’s veto.” It is understood by free speech enthusiasts to have a chilling effect on First Amendment rights.

The Ninth Circuit, however, ruled in February that the school was legally permitted to abridge white students’ free speech rights in service of Latino students’ feelings.

The Tea Party protest is focused on the free speech issue, said Scott-Codiga.

Police will being standing by in case things get out of hand.

NH Parent Arrested After Questioning School’s Decision To Have Kids Read Sexually Explicit Book…

I suppose arresting him is one way for the school board to avoid accountability.

GILFORD, N.H. — Parents said they are trying to understand why Gilford High School is requiring some students to read a book that includes a graphic sexual encounter.

School district officials said the book, “Nineteen Minutes” by Jodi Picoult, has important themes in its story about a school shooting, but parents said the message is overshadowed by one disturbing page.

The book contains a description of rough sex between two teenagers. Although the book has been read by Gilford students in the past, this year parents were not made aware of it until their kids already had a copy of the book.

“I am utterly appalled that this was an oversight, that my son had this book in his hand for a week. (It’s) unacceptable,” said Sarah Carrigan, a parent.

William Baer was handcuffed and escorted out of a meeting Monday night about the book.

“You are going to arrest me because I violated the two-minute rule?” Baer said. “I guess you are going to have to arrest me.”

“I fully understand how he feels. It really is a huge violation,” said Barbara Baer, his wife.

Shortly before their daughter was supposed to read the book, the Baers found page 313, which details a graphic sexual encounter.

“Why should those ideas be put in their mind. They can discuss this some other way. They don’t need that kind of imagery,” Barbara Baer said.

William Baer was charged with disorderly conduct.

That's going to happen when you refuse to allow a public meeting to proceed.

At Ivy League universities when the speaker is somebody like Ann Coulter or some other prominent conservative.

ETA: This is the kind of thing that happens: http://www.creativeminorityreport.com/2007/09/ivy-league-school-attacks-conservative.html

Here are some more examples: http://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/Mob-Rule-on-College-Campuses-2483125.php

Those aren't examples. You said this happened where people held up public meetings. None of those are public meetings.

Inner City Teacher Tries To Break Up Horrifically Violent Fight, Gets Fired

Home - by Cardigan - May 7, 2014 - 09:30 America/New_York - 20 Comments

Daily Caller

An extremely violent physical confrontation broke out between two boys at an an inner-city Detroit high school, but it was their teacher who received the harshest punishment: She was fired — and could face child abuse charges — for attempting to break up the fight.

The teacher, an unnamed female, was an employee of Pershing High School. The fight, which lasted about 30 seconds, broke out in her classroom. The two unleashed a tornado of fury against each other, crashing into desks and pummeling each other with terrifying ferocity.

The teacher, fearing that someone could suffer a serious injury, pleaded with them to stop. When they did not, she took hold of a broom and struck one of the boys on the back in an attempt to make him stop.

For this, she was fired. Teachers are supposed to contact security personnel to break up fights rather than taking matters into their own hands.

“The termination is effective immediately,” said Chrystal Wilson, a representative for Education Achievement Authority, an organization that runs the public school on behalf of the state of Michigan, in a statement to The Detroit Free Press. “She will have an opportunity, like any other employee, to meet with the board as they consider this recommendation at its next scheduled board meeting.”

The boys, on the other hand, will return to school after serving a 10-day suspension.

Illinois High School Suspends Eagle Scout For Wearing “Unsafe” Pro-Gun Rights T-Shirt With Picture of An AK-47 On It…

More zero tolerance insanity.

Via Chicago Tribune:

A Hinsdale Central High School student is challenging a suspension he said he received for wearing a T-shirt that depicts an AK-47 to school.

Senior Chris Borg, 18, of Hinsdale, appeared before the Hinsdale Township High School District 86 school board Monday to make the request that the suspension he received on May 6 be removed from his record.

Borg told the board that he wore a T-shirt with the outline of an AK-47 depicted on the back, a url for the website of a Kentucky armory club that supports gun rights and the words “TeamAK” on it. He said the shirt did not identify the gun as an AK-47 in writing. Borg said he was stopped for wearing it by hall monitors. He said the dean of students, Kimberly Dever, offered him the chance to turn the shirt inside out, wear another shirt or be suspended for the day.

“I decided to go home for the day because I felt it was a infringement of my First Amendment right to freedom of expression,” Borg told the board.

Supt. Bruce Law said the T-shirt is a violation of the dress code outlined in the school’s handbook.

The handbook states that students are subject to disciplinary action when they wear clothing that “is deemed vulgar, inappropriate, unsafe or disruptive to the educational process (e.g., advertising/display of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, sexual innuendo).

Borg said he was told the T-shirt was unsafe and disruptive. [...]

Borg’s father, Kevin Borg, said he supports his son’s quest to have the suspension expunged.

“He’s not advocating violence. He’s an Eagle Scout. He’s a straight-up kid,” Kevin Borg said.

Kevin Borg said if he’d known his son was going to wear the T-shirt to school he probably would have suggested that he not wear it.
