Yep, they've begun removing linked posts already. Time will tell on the future of Tumblr, but the best that could happen for it would be someone else purchasing it.

I understand the why, and as far as someone else purchasing it, I doubt it.
I simply don't care why, my blog isn't even that dirty... but I liked it the way it was.

The group that went out of their way to acquire Tumblr, Yahoo and such are rapidly circling an open drain.
 
What's next Google Images taking down pictures too!? Dang internet censorship! Would say worse, but not going to make a difference. The damage is already done.

this. I am SO irritated. I am totally ready to pack my bags and leave tumblr for some new platform. I do not think the new platform I want is quite up and running, but there sure are a lot of folks working hard to create alternatives. The one I am looking at most closely is MojoFire.

BDSMLR is okay. They are trying hard to create a stable platform for tumblr refugees and they are committed to being a porn platform HIGHLY kink friendly with no tolerance for pedo, violence, rape, snuff, paid services etc. However, what I really enjoyed about tumblr was the mix of erotica, sensuality, regular life, food, fashion, art, photography, DIY, poetry, humor, eclectica of all kinds. Placing sex and sexuality in its normal place along with the rest of life, not as a thing set apart.

So... while I see BDSMLR as a temporary solution while other platforms emerge, it does not seem likely to be a tumblr replacement at least for me. >> also images from BDSMLR cannot be imported into Lit the way they could be from Tumblr and remain stable. They go poof (the links deteriorate) after a brief time (48-72 hours).

I agree with your assessment of the good mix of erotica that made Tumblr worthwhile. I've opened a BDSMLR account but haven't any ideal on anything further with it. What eventually replaces Tumblr is in my opinion undetermined so I hope whatever it is doesn't let itself be compromised and sold out like Tumblr.
Mewe is also being used by some, I'm ambivalent about it as well. So I guess time will tell.
