“I am watching the Democrat Party led (because they want Open Borders and existing weak laws) assault on our country by Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, whose leaders are doing little to stop this large flow of people, INCLUDING MANY CRIMINALS, from entering Mexico to U.S.,” Trump tweeted Thursday morning.

He added: “In addition to stopping all payments to these countries, which seem to have almost no control over their population, I must, in the strongest of terms, ask Mexico to stop this onslaught - and if unable to do so I will call up the U.S. Military and CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!”

He can threaten all he wants, but "the military" cannot be used to enforce civilian law. Technically, he can use the Marines and Air Force, but that's not going to happen and we all know it. The only real tool he has is the National Guard and he's done that once already.

I still think that he can get the border wall built without 1 dime of congressional appropriation. All he really needs to do is order the Sea Bees to build it and then fund them from the military budget.

He has millions of free money from tariffs to spend...just use that and get at it...you can't let these vermin into your country

As CinC he can declare a national security threat of invasion at the Southern Border and order the military to defend it. The Posse Comitatus Act does not prevent the President from declaring Martial Law or repelling invasion. There's no question about this. It's been done before.

On Oct. 25, 2005, the House of Representatives and Senate enacted a joint resolution (H. CON. RES. 274) clarifying Congress' stance on the effect of the Posse Comitatus Act on the use of the military on U.S. soil. In part, the resolution states "by its express terms, the Posse Comitatus Act is not a complete barrier to the use of the Armed Forces for a range of domestic purposes, including law enforcement functions, when the use of the Armed Forces is authorized by Act of Congress or the President determines that the use of the Armed Forces is required to fulfill the President's obligations under the Constitution to respond promptly in time of war, insurrection, or other serious emergency."

Also under 8 USC 1182f He can order a halt to all immigration into the United States and enforce it:

“Whenever the president finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

If he decides to do so he will deploy them in areas of ingress with simple orders to turn them back. The military has non lethal audio, microwave, and chemical weapons that will definitely turn them around. Deadly force will be authorized for use against threats of bodily harm. Mainly, there won't be a friendly reception of, or a tolerance of, the use of force by invaders or attitudes of non-compliance. Portions of Mexican territory may even be seized to in order to gain military advantage over invasion routes across the border. After all, if they get here it will be with the explicit cooperation of the Mexican Government, and act of war.
